If you've never seen this site before I'd check it out, truly innovative and the guy has some great stuff. Inspiring.

I dunno - taken the mystery meat navigation to heart IMO. The fact that even after you turn off the sound it still makes noises is obnoxious. The images are pretty good and the navigation once you are in the pictures is okay.... I can see what they were trying to do.

The images themselves are pretty good.

That's about the most annoying site for navigation I have ever encountered; it's as if the web designer thinks his work is more important than the photographer's work. It's a complete turnoff to me, absolutely ridiculous. Beautiful website design in a vacuum, but it doesn't work in any practical sense.

Is this photography good? I don't know, I closed it out after 2 images. It took me a couple minutes just to figure out how to get IN, facripesake...

yup, what Robert said.

I like flash-sites, really. But this site just misses it's goal: show photos. This is just showing off how good he is with flash, or how much money he can spend to buy one.

Agreed, it's not the greatest way to get the shots out but the interface is pretty cool, I actually found it quite intuitive. If the guy didn't pay a fortune for it kudos.

I'm speechless and that's not a compliment.

What the hell is up with all the diptychs and triptychs?
The interface is a bit too "Gee Whiz!"

Once I figured out how to get IN, it was pretty simple, I grant you; but every time I wanted a new picture I had to click on some pathetic little moving thumbnail that's too small to see what I am getting, and is floating in a maelstrom of equally-tiny, moving thumbnails. If there's a way to get in and then just navigate to "next image" I never found it, and having to go back to the visual tornado just turned me right OFF.

I don't care how good the site is. If it has music on by default, then it's blocked permanently on my router.

Did you find the little swirling dot at th bottom of the screen that reshuffles the images to get new ones to the top of the pile? As you say, what sucks about it from a promoting ones work point of view is you can never guarantee that a viewer can see every image in your portfolio.

There were some photos I had trouble even clicking on. When I'd move my mouse to the image the other images would move on top of it. I had to try to come at it from different angles. If you're going to make the images hard to get to they better damn well be worth it.

Shuffle up and deal! ;)

I didn't see that you could do that at first, heh. I suppose that helps a little, but you still try to reach the photo a couple times before you get frustrated and re-deal it.

i don't think it's that bad. took all of 5 secs to figure out how to navigate. took 5 more to figure out how to reshuffle the thumbs.

i think of it like a table top covered in proofs - would be an bonus if the images you have seen aleady go away once viewed - at least for the current session.

Although the point of entry is a little bizarre, I really liked the "tabletop approach" to displaying the work. Very natural and a very interesting way to display a large number of photos.

IMO ... I did not see an image that wasn't at least in the VERY GOOD department. I don't like the fact that it took me like 3 minutes to figure out how to get to the gallery. I agree with the previous poster that said the designer has almost overshadowed the photographer. If they are the same, then I think he is defeating himself a bit. Having said all that it is very very spiffy and may turn on younger gamer type people looking for quality and what my Dad used to call PIZZAZZ and what some younger people than me might call JUICE or SICK. I think this site is extremely innovative and I figure it would take me at least 6 months full time studying to copy it if I ever was able to. Kudos to the designer ... it is indeed purdy WOW.

Why all the negativity? Takes 2 seconds to figure out how it works. You can turn the audio off right away in the top right corner, and it least it's not just another boring website. I'll definitely remember it because it's original. And the 10 or so photos I looked at were pretty good.

Beautiful portraits... he has an excellent command of light. I really liked it.

Help - I can't get in. That orange kid just keeps swirling in and out.
01/19/2008 05:04:55 PM · #20
Excellent multimedia site :) That must have been incredibly difficult to make and code. But i don't like it so much in terms of navigation. It's very difficult to find your way through.

I opened the site.....I'm crippled with 3-D pain....

Pics are ok.... site is cool.

i think it is FANTASTIC.

the site totally ROX and in my opinion it the way it's meant to be. AWESOME. really ...

the photos are also great. but overall this is the best flash site i have encountered in last couple of years (and i've seen a lot)

PS: i checked out the site once more and i have to confirm above stated opinion

what's the secret, I still can't get in. I can see an airplane sometimes, and the kid in the sun who does something odd with his hand on the zoom out.
