I recently went on holiday with my Mum and my Grandparents for my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We all had a really nice time and it gave me the opportunity to grab the odd 'candid' of the 'oldies' ;o)
Only one I've edited so far is this one of my Grandad...
Anyone else got shots of their Grandparents hiding in their portfolio? I'll try my best to comment on all posted here :o) |

Hey Sheila, {{{HUGS}}} Both sets of my Grandparents are still alive, everythings been the wrong way round for me...I have only lost young friends and Damian...totally the wrong way round :o( If you've got some good biscuits I'm sure I could persuade my Grandad to pop over and let you call him Grandpa ;o)

Both of my grandfather's died before I was born. My maternal grandmother died when I was 12 and my paternal "Mimaw" died in May, '99. :/
I have some pictures of Mimaw (not that I took), but I love looking at them.
Here's one I restored --
Mimaw is in the middle. The kids are me, and cousins and brother and sister. It was taken about 37 years ago. |

LOL I'll pass on the compliment :o)
Found a couple of older shots of my Grandma and Grandad. These are my maternal Grandparents (is that the right word?)

Would he like shortbread made with my Scottish grandmother's recipe? :)

This one here is my favourite shot of my grandfather (that I've taken anyway).
He was 83 years old and had gotten quite frail but was still with us and could take part in our New Years and Christmas celebrations. It's a candid and taken with a little point and shoot but I love it.

One of my favorite family photos. My Grand Uncle (center) was the closest thing to a grandfather in my family. Both my grandfathers died before I was born. My Grand Uncle was a hoot (check out that beard!). HE was the one who encouraged my art and creativity more than anyone else in my life. When he died in 2001 at the ripe old age of 96 he left me some inheritance money, some of which I used to buy my first digital camera. : )))
Some interesting facts about him:
1. Created graphic drawings for the "A" bomb (unknowingly) in a secret government project
2. Applied for work as an illustrator for Disney during the depression and Disney said he probably wouldn't be happy working for them and they turned him down. Anytime I said "Hey Uncle, we're going to Disneyland" he would throw his hands in the air and yell! haha
3. Was a model for the famous photographer Imogene Cunningham!! (30's and 40's)
4. Hated doctors and used Edgar Cayce's approach to healing himself (guess it worked if he lived to be 96)
5. Used to come and visit my ultra conservative Republican family and teach me about my psychic abilities, art, tarot, reincarnation, etc. They would just roll their eyes at him but I LOVED it.
Boy have times changed...

a lot of people will recognize this as a picture of my Mammaw. This was my entry into Best of 2006. It was taken on my porch in June 2006, 4 months before my Mammaw died of cancer. Here she is playing a card game with Me, my mom, and my daughter...4 generations. We did not know at this time she was sick. I miss her dearly, I spoke to her everyday on the phone...But I know she is in peace. |
