Stupid snowy forecast.
I'll be watching conditions Friday afternoon. If the road crews have a chance to scrape everything off, I'll be coming. That, of course, assumes Northwest Airlines has no problem landing us in Madison at 1 pm.
grrrrr. |

Yeah this weather prediction is not what I wanted to hear. Going to watch the reports closely tonight and figure out where we stand in the morning. Might just make the morning drive on Sat if the weather goes foul on us tomorrow. |

It is snowing hard here. Has been for about 45 minutes. They just said on TV 3-5 inches up to 8 inches in isolated areas. I love when they guess like that. I will keep a close eye on this. If it continues like it is going right now for the remainder of the day, I will probably not be driving down there tonight.

It is really coming down here. lol Some of the flakes are about the size of half dollars this is the second time in two weeks that I have seen flakes that large. Perhaps we are one of those "isolated areas". We already have close to 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground. |

Coming down really hard here too! 2+ inches already, but light & fluffy. Roads are crappy though. Looks like we're in for a couple hours more as well, by the radar |

so far we have around 4 inches and it is still coming down. Has let up a bit however we are getting another one of those heavy waves right now. The shit sure is pretty. However I am ready for it to stop. Not looking forward to clearing the paths here either.
Here are some photos I just took a few minutes ago.

We're back in Madison. Flight was only about an hour delayed, and we got upgraded to 1st class again (were on the outbound flight too!).
Honestly folks, I don't think I'm gonna make it. I have this instinctual desire to build a huge fire in the fireplace and hunker down for a few days.
Stay tuned to this space. |

Welcome back John. I agree the hunkering idea sits well at the moment. I have been listening to my police scanner and they are reporting accidents and run-offs left and right all over the place. Driving anywhere today or even tonight would be insane. I am not even looking forward to picking up my wife from work which is only 3.5 miles round trip. Going to hang around here tonight and see how things look in the morning. Hopefully we will still be able to get down there.

I think I will be staying put this weekend. I'm going to wait for colder weather when there are more eagles around.
It would have to get a whole lot better before I would drive that far. |

I concede that point.
At least Colin is coming down. You guys have a good time scouting out the situation for us. |

And I'll second John's concession. Been out for three hours doing snow removal, and I think I'm gonna hunker in this weekend. |

Colin made it safe and sound. When I talked to him, he and his family were enjoying the indoor waterpark at the Grand Harbor. Sorry to hear nobody else will be coming but that's OK I probably wouldn't have drove in either. Better safe than sorry. Happy New Years to all.

What an awesome GTG. Thanks Dave for carting me all over the Mississippi river. You guys missed what had to be 100 eagles at the Locks in Bellvue. I shot well over 500 shots today, & there are some definite keepers in the bunch. Thanks again Dave it was an awesome experience, being within 30 ft of some of these majestic birds is something I will never forget.

Glad you guys had a successful outing. I went out and only got the gulls again. I'm going to try my luck again tomorrow. Make sure you share some more of your shots! |
