Hey everyone,

I know that my camera had 10,000 clicks on it (supposedly) when i bought it, and i've put well over 70-80,000 on it (i'm guessing, not 100% sure) since i purchased it. every once in a while, while i'm shooting, i'll take a shot (in burst mode) and it will sit there and take one shot, and then quote "busy" and then another, and "busy"...can't fully take burst whatsoever. the battery's charged, etc. the card is a Sandisk Extreme III , so it's not data writing speed that is the problem. changed cards, same problem. but then 10 minutes later, in the same shoot, it's firing away 5 frames a second like a 20D is supposed to.

is it time to sell my 350d, replace the shutter of my 20d for backup, and have a new backup main body? :D:D

any input would be greatly appreciated :)

The busy indicator may be the on-camera flash recharging. You can't fire a fast burst with that flash because it won't recycle fast enough. I'm not sure if that is your problem, but it could be.

Another possibility is a very slow compact flash card...

I have that issue with the 350D I use for work, using 2 flash units connected to the camera by cable, so not using the onboard flash at all. I take a shot, single shot mode, it comes up with busy and the only thing that clears it is unplugging the power - we use the ac adaptor for it. Not even turning it off and disconnecting the usb - we use remote shooting - has any effect.
