Isn't the Tokyo Motor Show on this weekend? (I don't know - I just saw the ad in the papaer, didn't look at the dates).

Question about minimal editing: is converting from aRGB to sRGB an allowable step? Or should I just shoot my jpegs in sRGB to avoid problems?

Good question.

I'm pretty sure that's not allowed. You can shoot in sRGB in-camera so I would just do that.

Hmmmm.... I don't have much time to shoot, so can't just wait for something to happen... hmmm.... piles of lumber in empty lot next door... fire hall next block over.... where's those matches??? :)

And especially important if you usually do color filter adjustments swhen converting to black and white in Photoshop . . . now, where DID I put that red filter . . . *wondering if it's the coaster under the coffee cup I left in my study*

Yes, that's right. I'm not interested in cars, but I'd still go to the Motor Show to drool.... ;-ƃž

Sooo... SC? Any input on this?

At any rate, I dont use jpegs anyway and colorspace doesnt matter for RAW, and we cant crop anything in minimal, SO i think ill be shooting 2mp sRGB jpeg+RAW for this week...

question about converting to black and white for minimal...

I assume a filter that converts the picture for you is out then so you can either take the picture in black and white (using in-camera feature) OR desaturate... right?

based on this
fully desaturate your image using your editing softwareĆ¢€™s Ć¢€œdesaturate,Ć¢€ Ć¢€œconvert to grayscaleĆ¢€ or equivalent function. Customizable tools are not allowed.

Right.

The title is going to look pretty convoluted with a real cutline in it... any chance of getting an exception to the rules that says you can add white space at the bottom and put only a cutline in (no photographer name obviously)?

I'm embarassed by my entry in the last PJ challenge, hope I get a chance to do better in this one. I've learned a lot, in any case.

Not a good weekend for the photo request board to be almost empty - no assignments equals no good pictures for the challenge :(

No NO NOOOOO
I got home, saw that there was a photojournalism challenge and heard a firetruck outside so I grabbed my camera and got some SWEET shots, but I came home, saw it was minimal and I always shoot RAW!!!! DAAAAAAAMN IT

Put yourself in the shoes of a magazine or newspaper photographer and try to capture a shot worthy of the front page.

Does this mean it can really be a photo of anything so long as it would go in a paper or magazine? What if it was a magazine on food and I took a shot of sushi...???

Are most people looking for stuff that is happening 'in the moment' outside like accidents, tragedies etc?
