If anyone could see their way to cooking stuff from my ma's website and taking (nice) pictures of the results for us to use (for free) on the website that would be VERY cool!
The site is Mamta's Kitchen (and it's not a commercial site - it's a hobby site we set up for mum when she retired).

No it would not be cool. It would involve me in a load of work to finish rebuilding the search function and sort out the database once and for all and all those other little jobs currently sat on my ToDo list :-) |

Why isn't she preparing the recipes and you shoot it? Other than it's too hot?
I'm a good cook, but a lousy food stylist. But maybe you can talk D&L into a challenge where we have to shoot something prepared from that site .... |

I always take photos of my food! I have some great shots of sushi that I hand-prepared and it looked right out of a restaurant.
Since I got my new F717 a week ago, I am exploring it so I took a shot of my tomato/basil/mozzarella salad the other day.
Here you go...

Fair question but we don't live in the same town - we're there once or twice a month and it's usually after work so she's not preparing the same kind of "party" meals as on weekends for friends etc.
I do need to do that but...
Her own pics are awful...
So if we do have a food challenge I'm just saying how great it would be to have some _good_ pictures to put onto the site. Technology is in place just not any decent images.
Anyway, when I get to mum's it smells so good I just want to cram it down not stop and take pictures!
:-P

Reasonable answers ... as I said, I'm not sure food styling is my strong suit. |

That is one cool platter, Paul! I make pancakes shaped like bunnies all the time, and cut sandwiches into bunny shapes, but your platter takes the cake.

that's right.. let's do a food challenge, "now", after I spent the weekend experimenting with some Italian food concepts. it 'was' a photogenic process and result. and pretty tasty as well.
next time I go crazy in the kitchen, I think I'll take pictures. (why don't I ever think of these things.. the camera was sitting there 3 feet away from the food prep area...aaaaaagghh) |

Food is a great subject. When I was a private chef I used to frequently photograph my creations. Occasionally I still do. Here is one image I used in a challenge.
Here's another, and hereand hereand here

I think a "Cookbook Shot" challenge would be great!
Challenge: Cookbook shot
Challenge details: Photograph a prepared foodstuff as you think it should be presented in a cookbook. |
