Beginning with the freshest of homemade Mozzerella (pronounced Mootz-a-rell in my family) and vine-ripened tomatoes, I drizzled extra virgin olive oil imported from Italy. Unable to obtain fresh basil, I improvised as any good chef will, by using a combination of dried basil and fresh chopped parsley. After sprinkling with course salt and fresh ground pepper, I shot away with my camera set on a tripod.
The lighting came in from a nearby window, and I had my 40 watt light over the stove on.
After shooting several pictures, my husband and I devoured this with fresh baked garlic bread....mmmmmmmm divine!!!

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Hi Grayce :)

I think the lighting on this shot is excellent. The contrasting colors of the red/green/white combination also work very nicely. The diagonal orientation of this setup seems to enhance the composition quite a bit as well... the choice of a white plate was good here... it not only makes a good presentation for your food, but it makes it stand out in the photograph as well... I can smell the basil :)

Keep up the good work :)

So colourful! This would look great in a cook book, to tempt you to try out the recipe on the opposite page. As a work of art it isn't as interesting to me, but as an illustration it works well.

great colors,(and yummy looking, btw). Not as sharp as it could be, and it bothers me that the sliced tomatoe on the bottom is so close to the edge of the frame. also, a little lower angle, I feel, would contribute greatly to the image.

Great colors. It doesn't look all that appetizing, but its a nice photo. The bright lighting makes it a little flat however but I don't know how to get away from it and keep the colors so vivid. - Inspzil

I like the concept. I think I'd prefer to see the finished plate without the spices ... looks a bit too much. Still a nice composition. I like it.
