Software developer and consultant specializing in student information manangement systems. I've been a science, tech type all my life.

I think technical and detail oriented people are naturally attracted to photography because we like fiddling with camera settings and messing around with software. It is like a creative outlet for us. LOL!!!!

All these other dpc'ers have such interesting lines of work...I'm just a humble horse trainer...occasionally I get to play with cows too...though not as a cowboy, which is the two sets of beasties with one set workin' the other.

I know you have some strange place names in NZ, but never heard of a town called, Wannabee! Or, is that the next town to Whogivsadam!!

I thought I had posted in this thread before but I can't find me so...I work in a corporate library and I write, design and narrate tutorials on all manner of extra boring things like patent and market research databases. I'm a cube monkey but at least it's a window cube. I also do a good deal of freelance work - web/graphic design stuff (the harder I try to quit, the more work I get), some work for the p.i. company I used to work for and a collection of odd side jobs like running chocolate fountains and catering small events. Not to mention the best paying gig, professional Site Council member.

I don't think it was the hacker history so much as creating a DPC knockoff and then harvesting DPC user emails to spam them with info about it. ;)

During the summer: Engineering intern doing product development and measurement systems analysis for a medical device company in MN.

During the school year: Hardware specialist for the computer and communication systems department at my school and a student.

In my spare time: A photographer...have yet to make a dime from this though.

I graduated college last year with a B.S. in Computer Science and currently work for the same university and department as a Programmer Analyst III. Basically a mix of system administration and programming, but my specialty is in network security.

Audio Video Systems Consultant. Former Technical Director and Band Director.

I stopped trying to make the thing I like doing the most into a career. It takes all the fun out of it. Hopefully photography will always be fun...

Sr. Network Design Engineer. In essence, I work with BIG routers and edge access devices that allow millions of DSL subscribers to stay connected and get to the Internet. If you are happy with your DSL connection (in the SE US) you can partially thank me. If you have had problems...well...I wasn't working that day and had nothing to do with it, I pinky swear. ;-)

For entertainment I hang with my family, take pictures and fly small airplanes. Pretty much in that order.

I am also a laughing snorter trainee, though I expect to maintain my amateur standing for some time to come. I usually just end up in a coughing fit...

Wow, we've got quite a diverse little community here. We should all pitch in and buy some land, then build a city. We'd have one of everything.

Oh, and I do administrative work and other random things for an electrical contractor. Don't really have a job title but the closest thing anyone's come up with is logistics. I used to be a handyman, a first year cabinetmaker, and a first year ironworker. Still looking for a satisfying career.
