Ok, so I'm sure that this is an age old thread that's been posted, oh about 8913751 times. However, I'm new to DPC and could use some help from some of the pro's and more experienced hobbiests. Specificly I need to know the best way to clear up facial blemishes and add visible watermarks to protect my photos online. Kinda un-related I know but I'm trying to start myslef a small photography business here in Boise Idaho. Just something part time, I would appreciate some feedback from some of the DPC members on the galleries I have posted there. www.mcmanusphotography.net |

For facial blemishes the cloning and healing brushes work well. As for watermarks, you'll have to find someone better than me.

as stated by delta, clone and healing is the way to go, watch your hardness and your opacity though. Better to make a couple passes from different source locations so things look a little more random.
As for watermarks...look no further than the tutorial section...here |

Use the lasso tool, draw selection around blemish, CTRL+J to copy it to a new layer, move it slightly, so as to see two of the same blemish, CTRL+J to duplicate again, move this one slightly, repeat this process arranging the blemishes to form a watermark. ;-) |

I was reading this thinking you were serious and was thinking "What the hell are you talking about" then the penny dropped. Funny!!! |

RE: Your site...
Good start but (IMO) the multiple slideshows going on a at time in the galleries is a bit overwhelming for me. I find I didn't really study any one photo...Actually I didn't know there were other shots on the page until I scrolled down. One Slideshow is enough or have several static on one page (again IMO)

I'd suggest going to the Tutorial section and get "giggy wid it."
Also, when talking about photoshop, it's good to know what version you have. Some versions don't have all the bells and wistles... wissles... wisles... (loud annoying blowing device). |

Well thank you everyone for your ideas. Umm, tried the copy and pasting of blemishes to make a watermark...uhhh, it looked terrible. But hilarious none the less. But yeah, it seems as though the blemish removal is actually quite simple. I took Nullix's advice and just went to the tutorial...there's a tool and everything, who knew? |

Here's another easy trick I found from a wedding photographer. To reduce wrinkles and blemishes:
In photoshop, choose Select/Color Range. Using the eyedropper, choose your subjects face. Make sure you have select all the face. Then choose Filter/Noise/Dust & Scratches. Play with the radius and threshold to smooth out the skin and make it glow. Don't get too crazy since it'll look "Photoshopped"
It's quick and easy. Don't tell my wife, but I use it on images of her.
