For those of you who are keeping up with this story, I ordered some slides last week from //www.prodigitalphoto.com and got them today. They look phenomenal, unfortunately I don't have a slide projector so I can see them for real. So I'll have to see if I can't borrow one from someone or get a loupe.

I had these images made

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=34733
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=34022
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=25007
//www.pbase.com/image/20743137
//www.pbase.com/image/20189766
//www.pbase.com/image/20743218

The dragonfly picture was the lowest resolution at 1098x732. It looks just as good as either of the buttefly pictures, which were 2560x1707. Without seeing them thru the projector, I'm really pleased with the quality and am getting anxious to show them at the the first camera club meeting after our summer break. I think the lily picture will really blow them away. With shipping and all, the grand total was less than $15 for six slides. Not cheap, but I saw some places online that wanted $15 for one slide.

In an unrelated bit of news, I also found out a local printer can make me very very large prints, up to 30"x65" for $.70 per inch. I put my order in today for a 30x44 composite of a bunch of portraits I did this weekend. The guy wouldn't give up trying to get me to buy the "deluxe" package with their color corrections and everything. I had some proofs made to make sure the quality was there and the colors were comparable, and they were. They looked really good. The down side is that its a lot of processing to put together the composite, and its one hell of a file too. the psd file got up to 233meg, which is way bigger than anything I'd ever worked with.

Anyway, the slides look good just checking them out holding them up to the light. I'll check back when I get a chance to see them thru a projector.

Do you happen to know if yours were printed at 4000 lines (the 'powerpoint' resolution) or the 8000 lines resolution ? It seems to make sense that unless you have really huge image files, that the 4000 lines (cheaper) option is going to be just as good as the double the price 8000 lines option...

Is it just me or is anyone else having a problem getting to the www.prodigitalphoto.com?

Whoops!! Let me paste that link in instead of type it. Sorry about that. //www.prodigitalphotos.com/price.html That should do it.

@Gordon, slide output is 4096x2731

I'm glad your slides turned out. I have a question though, what is the purpose of having digital photos turned into slides?

Thanks, Bob.

I'm shooting more models for TFP and I'll try this site's service to create an album and see how I like it.

I belong to a camera club locally. For the competitions, we can enter prints for the open category (both b&w and color), and for the stated topic. But for nature, only slides are allowed. That's something to be discussed before the next years bylaws are revised. Digital stuff is also on the agenda of things to be discussed. There are I think 6 people shooting digital. The other people shooting digital don't enter too much, so I don't think it was that much of an issue. Since my wife and I joined, and we are entering pictures in everthing we can, it came to the forefront more. As of right now, there are no restrictions whatsoever, so in all fairness to them, it should probably be changed.

To make a short story long, I needed slides so I could enter them in the nature competition in the local photo club because they only allow slides. - bob
