I have short depth of focus! Woohoo! Both with 50mm 1.4 at f/1.4. Portrait at ISO 800, flower at 100. These are two of my first shots with the 10D. What really gets me is the ease of manual focus. I'm so glad I opted for the 50mm 1.4. The full-time manual is a dream. I'm blown away already...

You are making me jealous.
Someday I hope to take off the training wheels and join the DSLR crowd.
Have fun with your new toy! |

I just barely jumped into digital photography (actually, photography altogether), and I'm already wanting to take my training wheels off after seeing what some of these members are doing with their SLR's. Too bad I don't have a couple grand to spare... |

3200, eh? My A70 tops at 400, and those shots all look like crud. |

that's one of the shockingly good things with the 10D...that portrait i posted above is at iso 800 and it's comparable with my f717 at iso 100. 1600 isn't bad either. |

Unfortunately, repairing my truck must come first. If I get sucked into the SLR world, I'll end up having to go next summer without AC, too. I don't know what I'll do then. Sit at the park and take pictures, I guess. ;)

I would love a DSLR but I'm glad I started with the Nikon...it really is helping me to decide what's important to me in a camera.
I'm thinking I'll be buying the 10D's successor. By the time it comes out I'll be more than ready for an SLR, the tech and price will be even better, and I'll have time to save up the $$ for it.
And in 6 months when I can't stand it anymore you can all call me a liar. :)

Time to save up the money... That's what I keep telling myself, then I find out something else needs replacing. lol |

Congrats! It finally got there... My 10D came today, but I can't do anything with it! How frustrating is that? The lenses and CF cards won't be hre until later this week...
For all of you who are going to buy a DSLR... order at least one lens from the same place you buy the camera body. I bought at two different places and now I'm stuck waiting, even though the camera is sitting there staring at me!
It's a cruel world...

Not even team 10D has that many. They come in with eight, it looks like. |

But you have to remember the 10D has only been out for a few months, those other cameras have been around for yonks! If you look at it that way, the the 10D is doing purdy well :-)

I have a Powershot S45 (which is obviously, a later version of S30). I wouldn't call it a "toy" camera at all. It really is very good, period. Note that I'm not even saying "very good for the price." Currently, I have pictures from both DSLR and the Powershot, but the Powershot really carries a lot more mileage for me because of its portability. I only lug the 10D when I'm really out on a trip for taking pics, but on a day to day basis, it's the S45 that takes care of documenting details of actual living.

While my 5700 isn't exactly compact, one of the other reasons I bought it first was to have an everyday camera I can easily take with me. I have a very small camera bag for it and it's easy to loop over a shoulder and tote it around during my normal activities. |

My husband is trying to get me to make the jump from my F707 to the 10D or the D60. What I can't really figure out is - other than the price, what are the major differences? What,if any, advantage is there in getting the D60 over the 10D?? 10D looks like a better deal for the price to me. Any observations on this?
Thanks, Linda

"bumping" this !
Come on guys - I seriously need some help here! I would like to buy a new camera in the next month or so - so what's should it be 10D or D60, and why?
Team 10D, I KNOW you have some opinions on this!
Thanks, Linda

A small pin hole in a cap lets you do pinhole photography with a DSLR :)
