Peter - I just went to that link and that book looks really interesting. It got a lot of great reviews - I love reading, and maybe I'll pick it up. ETA - I've been missing in action here lately and have been missing everyone...I've got a lot going on right now in my personal life...will catch everyone up later. My photography has definitely been suffering as a result, but I did get a decent entry into FS this month.

Deb - how's everything going in the big sandy?

Now you have me worrying and hoping that this story will be a good one. I hope everything is all right.

I guess I’ve been kinda MIA myself, what ever free time available to me over the last couple months have been serving my harsh task masters on the DPL Out Of Focusers, “joking of coarse”. The truth is I have learned more over the last few weeks, than I have since I started taking pictures. The culmination of all that learning is in my Street shot, that I personally think is my best ever, not only in the search for the right subject, but in PP also. Even though is getting beat up in voting snaffles and Melethia seem to like it, Bear_Music gave it a 10, but leave it to posthumous to take the time and understand what was really being said, his comment nailed my vision perfectly.
All in all I guess I suck, but that’s not at all a bad thingâ€Â¦

I'm back for now.

I've got images in for Shadows (a poor photo though - likely about a 4.3 if that), Toys (stronger - maybe a 5.2), and FS August (average, so being in a FS, likely under 5)

So now I think that I'll need a photography class and pick the minds of you all that all ready have one. I got it Wednesday and have been playing with it. Nothing like have a new toy to make you feel young again :)

Since it doesn't seem like much of anybody says anyting (Excluding Mary this time) may I extend my warmest birthday wishes.

Having had a daughter and watching my wife suffer heat in September when the baby came December 28th, I only have the deepest apologies to my mother for having had me in the heart of the heat season.

Enjoy your new camera and again, Happy Birthday!!!!

Off to Algonquin Park for some family camping

Well, I've got a 5.2405 in Street, a 5.4717 in FS, and I'm in for Shadows with one that could go either way, but I think it's strong.

I'm actually thinking on one for Toy, but I got nothin' for upside down.

Ooh - enjoy !! I'm jealous, as I adore Algonquin. My hubby and I took our honeymoon at Canis Bay.

Sorry for the delay, but our Street Photography 2 pictures are up in the Challenge Results Thread.

My escrima class, taught by this guy was fantastic, though I feel like a pinata right now after 6 hours of training. I only see my martial arts friends a few times a year since I moved to Chicago, but it's always a blast when I'm there.

Can I recruit some Team Suck input on this image please ?

Left you a comment, Kashi.

I'm amused that I entered what I thought to be a very non-DPC friendly image in Shadows: not sharp, not bright, not on the thirds lines, and grainy. But it tells a story. And it's sitting at 5.6. :)

I'm off to comment on all the shots from last week. No, I didn't forget!

Hey, did anyone notice Bdenny got both his best and 5th-best score last week?
