"Gone" is a relative term -- I was hoping for some real-time postings via cell phone ... : )

I'm just leaving now, and I'm telling...

Nanner, nanner, nanner.

BTW - If we don't smell now, we will by the time we get back. ;-)

HA! Talk about us will you!

Well, I'm the first one back, and I gotta say, that philipdyer is one heck of an organizer. Lots of Bay Area people came and even zeuss and his wife came all the way from Fresno!

I'm not going to try to recap all the names and camera of those present right now, except to say we had a wonderful time and traded a lot of stories. The food was great, and even though we got chased around by the coastal fog, somehow, I think some exellent photography is going to come out of the day. I know a lot of fun and friendship has.

When I left most everyone was heading down a foggy path to the ocean in the hope of enough light to take a picture of a rock or two. A very few miles away, it was blue sky and gorgeous weather.

Just got back. Fog was thick, wet(!) & I suspect salty enough that I hope I've not damaged my camera. It appears that a great time was had by all. It's such a pleasure to attach faces & voices to log-on names.

Again, thanks to philipdyer for the putting this all together, and thanks to all who came.

Pictures to follow...

I would be glad to accept all the credit for organizing this event if it were at all deserved. All I did was get the ball rolling -- every single person who posted in this thread and then showed up today with their cameras and tons of food made this event so wonderful. It was great to see many familiar faces and to meet so many new ones as well. We absolutely can't wait another year before doing this again.

Looking forward to the photos!

I am finally back. rjkstesch and family and were last ones out. I stayed for about 20 more minutes on the beach then hiked out. Emptied one of my cards At Pierce Point Ranch and low and behold the sun peaked out for a good 45 min as the sun started to come down. :) Pics to come soon. It was great to meet everyone and thanks philip for getting the ball rolling.

I was great meeting so many new people, we must do this again, maybe some where that has over 100 ft of visibility:)
Sorry i missed McClure Beach , but I took a wrong turn and just kept going* of course by being first home I get to be first to post. I learned a few things today

It is easier to shoot things that fly when they aren't flying

Plants and rocks hold very still

Lighthouses look better on days when they are not needed.

And if you ask DPC folks to bring food they bring twice what they can eat.

So Phillip when are you setting up the next one.

It was great meeting everyone! Great company more than made up for the lousy weather on the coast!!

I didn't make it back to Cupertino until 10:30pm last night (had to grab some sunset/night shots of the GG bridge). I haven't even looked at my pics yet. :-( I'll be posting some tonight hopefully.

We were wondering what happened to you, Brennan! They really need a sign before Pierce Point Road to warn people that it's coming up. As you know, it's very easy to miss. And William left a message saying that his allergies forced him to leave McClure's Beach after a short time.

I just got in from my ridiculously early appointment and will start going through the photos now. Hey, Joe, show everyone the celebrity photo you got yesterday. :-)

Hey, wow. Was that the legendary Bill Russell of Basketball fame?

I learned about shooting in the fog. I was originally concerned about lack of light, but found the images were too light. So, the experience became an exercise in trying lotsa settings.

Hi. We had a great time Sunday, even my wife Cindy enjoyed the gathering. Everyone, I hope to get together again some time, maybe closer to Fresno. A Yosemite GTG might be a nice idea some day.

I want to thank you for a marvelous day! I enjoyed meeting everyone so much and am looking forward to the next get together (Yosemite sounds good to me!). I happy with the results of my photo and have posted a few (well maybe more than a few...lol) of my favorites here (except of course...my Free study entry :)for this month)

My one capture of the lighthouse didn't turn out well :(...I see now from some your images...I probably should have went the distance...
Looking forward to seeing the group shot.
Eve

PS..Just realized I only took 118 images so I am VERY pleased with how many came out.

There's no need to be sarcastic, Alice. ;-) Unless some of you guys hurry up and become famous, years from now I'll be telling my grandkids about the trip I took to Point Reyes with Bill Russell.

Love your recap of the day. Great to see the group together and the individual shots came out great. Thank you!

Wow, Alice, those were the most flattering photos you took of me yesterday? I have got to work on being more photogenic. ;-) And I am never volunteering to be on the end in a wide-angle shot again!

Seriously, thanks for posting all of those photos. It's great to have individual shots of everyone like that.

Thanks, Phil. It was fun getting the shots.
And as long as those dimples of yours stay in good shape,
you don't need to worry about being photogenic!

Great photos, everyone! Here's a batch of people shots from the GTG:

Edit to add that last one of Joe. Don't know how I forgot he was in that shot.

Since my computer is still in the shop, I'm editing and posting from my wife's laptop (thank you, honey!) which means no PS and no Raw images! So, here are some of the photos I took with my new P&S SamsungNV7Ops which I'm quickly coming to appreciate very much. When the fixit boys cough up my computer I'll post the others.

These first ones are from the drive over along the beautiful Point Reyes - Petaluma Rd

Here's my rendition of the picnic. I think you know everyone's names by now.

One from the beach

I really enjoyed meeting everyone and had a great time. Looking forward to the next one. I also thought we should go to Yosemite! I say we book a campsite for next Spring and do an overnighter. Maybe late May or early June? Who's up for it?

Thanks to Phil for doing such a great job organizing all of us, and for putting the day together.

I just got home. I haven't had a chance to look at my images, except to chimp them in the car. I'm hoping some of mine are half as good as yours. You sure have some awesome shots.

Thanks, Phillip, for putting this all together. It was wonderful to meet you all. I'd love to get another chance to meet up with you and get to know you better. With the eating, shooting and traveling, there just wasn't enough time for talking. Next time....
