My hubby and I put in our reservations for the place in Rohnert Park last night. I am out of the "maybe" status and am in the "firm" commitment stage.

What time of day are we meeting up? I'd like to make it to church. Meetings are at 9 am or Noon. I'm guessing that we want evening light and sunset, so that would be afternoon and evening on the coast?

Thanks for the help.

Yay, I'm glad you'll be able to make it, Rebecca! I'll be posting some suggestions for an itinerary soon, based on recommendations that many have posted in this thread. Maybe we can have a couple of meeting points to make sure that people can hop into the group at a certain place and time if they can't get there early.

I'll also put a list together of who will be going and will make sure that everyone has at least one or two cell phone numbers to call. Hopefully we'll have decent reception, but that's not a given up there.

Would love to join your group on the 15th if I'm not out of town that day.

Aww, too bad, Paul. I guess that was just wishful thinking. If you can make it, I'd love to see you again.

But yay, for Evelyn. I'll add you to the list!

Glad you saw this too, Dziuggy! I'll add you to the list and will post the date and location in the OP, as you suggested.

And Evelyn, I'll make sure that no one laughs at anybody's camera. We know they all want to grow up to be Canons and will treat all cameras like the Canons-in-training that they are. ;-)

I will be meeting with the group at Pt Reyes sometime in the morning. I'm planning on being with Steve Ginthum. My preference would be early in the morning. I sent Philip some information about the "Sunday Morning Ride" which takes place on Hwy 1 every Sunday Morning rain, shine or fog. It starts in Mill Valley at 7:30 AM. and ends at the Point Reyes Station by about 9:00AM. A friend (and DPC member) is coming over from the orient to tour Central California on a motorcycle with me. We need to end our day in the Pollock Pines area traveling there via scenic 'motorcycle friendly' back roads. We expect to leave the Pt Reyes mid day. Hopefully Steve will accompany us on our trip to Pollock Pines.

Just a reminder that this GTG is coming up in a little over a week. More info coming soon once I get through my friend's wedding. Seriously, is everyone getting married on 07/07/07?

PS..Sonoma County Fair starts 7/17 (which is a free entry day). Flowers and plants will be "fresh" and ready for capture.

Everything still set for July 15, Sunday?
I managed to trade days at the Gallery and will be at the GTG.

Are we going to meet at the Pt. Reyes National Seashore Visitors Center?
That might be the best place as the rangers can tell us which venues
within the park are fogged in, or extra windy, and which are especially noteworthy that day.

Also, what time are we meeting?

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again,
meeting the folks I haven't met yet and generally having a great day.

I think so, so glad you can join us! PhilipDyer was going to set up an itinerary for us and post it here. I'll send him a PM to see if he came up with anything, if he hasn't got something up tonight maybe we can make up a time to meet.
Here is another one from Scuplture Beach which you can reach by hiking down Limantour and climbing some rocks. But it takes a little teamwork to get to with one 4 or five foot drop from rocks to the beach. Couldn't post before or it would have given away my entry. :)

I'm waiting and watching for the details on this GTG. My hubby, daughters ( luckyhope, and jennaca) and I are all planning on coming.

We'll be driving out and leaving early on Thursday morning.

sfalice, I just looked up the address of your gallery with the hope that I could come by and see it. I envy your opportunity.

Becky

The wedding festivities went on until this afternoon, so I'm horribly late in posting an itinerary. I'm going through the list right now and will add some suggestions to the OP shortly.

Terrific! I'll look forward to meeting you all.

I'm going to post this in the main forums a little later, but if you are in town on Saturday, July 14, we are opening a show of watercolor work by a terrific watercolor painter, Mary Blake. Our photographs will still be up, but her artistry will take center stage. Come join the party!

The reception is 12:00 to 5:00pm
A Woman's Eye Gallery
678 Portola Drive, San Francisco, CA

We're in the formerly unused chapel of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
"Ya can't miss us!"

Hi everyone! I added some suggestions for the itinerary in the original post. Please take a look and add any suggestions and feedback.

Hi everyone! Here are sme suggestions for what we can do on Sunday:

Tim Kelly (AKA Rasai) sent me a very nice and detailed description of a motorcycle rally that will be going on that morning. The info is right here: West Marin County Loop Ride.

Since it's so spread out, I would suggest that anyone who wants to can just go check out that ride on their own. Let's make our first meeting place the Bear Valley Visitor's Center. You'll see the road to the visitor's center on the left as soon as you get into Olema. Can people make it there by 10:00 or should we make it later? From there, we can break into groups by trail (or all go together) and then meet back at the center to go to lunch.

I would love some suggestions for lunch. Is there a good place right there in Olema that would work well for 8-12 people? If not, then how does the Station House Cafe sound?

Following lunch, we should head straight for the light house. After that, we can go to Elephant Seal Overlook since it's very close by and will require driving through all those cows in the open farmland.
From there, we can head up north to McClure's Beach. Along the way, we might see some Tule Elk. Anyone who is feeling particularly adventurous can hike the Tamales Point Trail instead of going to the beach, but I think it's about 3 miles each way. Me, I'm going to the beach. If anyone still has room on their CF cards, we can swing by Abbott's Lagoon after that.

Alice, I don't know anything about the Pierce Point Ranch. Is it an all-day trip just to do that, or is it something we could check out after going to the light house? If it's your favorite, then it must be pretty good. :-)

After a day of shooting, we should all meet up for dinner and chimping. We should probably count on doing this at the Station House Cafe since they're nearby and open until 9:00.

Please let me know if you have any feedback or other suggestions. Once we finalize this itinerary, I'll pick out 2 or 3 meeting points where we can be sure to be at certain times so that people can join the group at whatever time they can make it. This is probably the only way to accommodate people's schedules since there's very limited cell phone reception up there. All feedback and suggestions welcome!

10Am sounds good to me...but then again...earlier or later is ok too.
Not familiar with the restaurants so will leave that us to the rest of you.
Sounds like a wonderful day. I bought extra batteries today and am very much looking forward to the outing.
