Just made it to Rohnert Park (CA). I'm loving your state. I can actually breath real air and not thick smoke from all the forest fires.

It's beautiful and it's a cool 78 degrees. Nice welcome.

See you all on Sunday.

A couple of us are planning to go to the Sonoma County Fair on Sunday, 7/29, if you are still around then -- it's just up the road in Santa Rosa. That's my "home" territory. There's a "back road" between Pt. Reyes and Petaluma which is supposed to be beautiful; goes past a cheese factory. See this map:

I'll be there on the 17th...want to catch the floral exhibit while it is still new and fresh. Hopefully I can get some good captures to finish out my 30 day Floral side challenge.

I can never pass up The Cheese Factory without stopping in. Their soft cheeses are wonderful, people are friendly, the nearby pond is a good and easy spot for waterfowl pics, and not necessarily last on the list, the restrooms are sparkling clean.

Hey guys! Got too busy with work the last few weeks and wasn't keeping track of dpc at all. Thanks Phil for the email. Unfortunately I am flying to NYC this evening and can't make it to this get together. I would have loved to see you guys again, but looks like I will have to wait for another gtg. Hoping you guys have a great time!

That's too bad, Gaurawa. I could have pretty much guaranteed you a ribbon on McClure's Beach, but if you're too busy... ;-)

I'm not sure even gaurawa has a lens that will reach McClure's Beach from where he's headed.

Good morning, everyone! We're in the home stretch, so I just wanted to post one more reminder about tomorrow's GTG. Okay, so it probably won't be the last reminder, but it will be the last one that I post this morning. See you again this afternoon!

I'll be there, aiming for 10:00, hopefully no delays. Looks like the wife is coming along, too! Should I bring my camera?

For those of us coming from hotter regions, what will the locals be wearing tomorrow? I see the forcast is for 80 degrees. Can we trust that?
07/14/2007 10:05:47 PM · #141
Two words: Lay-ers. Okay, that's just one word, but that is how you should dress -- in layers. The last time I went up, the temperature varied by at least 30 degrees from the hottest to the coldest part of the day. If the fog starts moving in, it can get pretty cold pretty quickly. But do bring sunscreen as well in case it is 80 degrees throughout the day.

Also, it can be sunny and warm at the Visitors Center and cold and windy at the Lighthouse. Or not.
As philipdyer says, layers work.

I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to make it to this GTG, but the stars must have alligned somehow and, poof a hole appeared in my weekend big enough to drive a GTG through. So I'll be at the visitor center tomorrow at 10 but Im not sure what I should bring, my default setting is a couple botles of wine, but let me know what would be better, or at least less condusive to stupor.

There are some decent non-alcoholic wines available now, or you could bring (unfermented) fruit juice. But I won't be there, so I don't really care, except that you all get back : )

Last minute family issue may prevent me from coming...but am going to try my best. I was really looking forward to this. Hope to see you all tomorrow.

I'm bringing a small propane grill. It's ~ 10" X 20"

Yay, I'm glad you'll be there, Brennan! And I hope you can resolve your crisis in time, Eve. It would be great to see you as well.

I'm really glad you're bringing a gas grill, Carl, because we probably don't have enough grillables to justify getting one of those big pits going. See you guys soon!

Well, now that they're all gone we can talk about them... I hear they all smell.
