ok, it took me a while to get to this, but a few benevolent souls (especially muckpond) had left some comments about my movie entry:(the adventures of priscilla, queen of the desert
A lot of people regretted that I cut off the bus. Well, there was a non-posing queen in the way, and so I had to cut him and a good chunk of the bus out. Here's the original:
And here it a rudimentary attempt at cloning out the arm, and a pathetic dodge and burn attempt on the guy on the left's face. I'd love some tips on how to dodge and burn effectively, or whether the shot is too far gone to even attempt to save.

Frisca, your cloning and dodging and burning, which you call rudimentary, looks very good to me. I wouldn't have known the bus had been cloned on first site. The guy/queen's face looks better now, although I'm no expert on the dodging and burning thing either. That guy looks like Sandra Berhardt. Anyway, I'm not too fond of the subject matter of the photo. I find it unappealing. However, I can admit to it being a good photojournalistic shot, one worth keeping, and your modifications were a fine improvement. |

I recognize that drag queen's are not everyone's cup of tea, but everyone at the parade was having such a good time, its just fun stuff. :) |

You took up a lot of room, frisca. I had to take the shot from a different perspective. ;-)

I don't see what you're linking us to - that goes to our own profile.

FANTASTIC (but considering the subject matter, I should say FABULOUS) editing job on the bus. the other queen on the left should be wearing hose anyway with those pale legs so s/he deserves to be cropped out :)
the dodging and burning (which I'm not too great at myself) is really good. I'd burn the sunglasses out a little bit, but otherwise it's tres magnifique!
as for the subject matter, yeah...it's not everyone's thing. i roll my eyes at some of the photos on here too *cough*cats*cough*, but to each their own. I will say, though, that every straight guy i've ever taken to or see at a drag show has ended up being the life of the party and had a great time.
give it a try and you might be surprised. i'd try going to church, but i know lighting would rain down from the heavens.
and i just have to say that i'd kill for arms like the gal on the right. instead i'm stuck with these spindly things.
yay frisca! we need more drag queens around here! although the first thing they'd do is get rid of this gray background we've got going on. ;)

that's so great, zeuszen! I was situated at the end of the parade, and as well you know, the light was high in the sky, hence the bad shadows!

Yes, the light was murderous, the queens the wrong gender, the crowd impenetrable, and frisca kept walking into my shot. |

She's like that. Put a cam into her hands and she becomes a menace to society.

That sort of attire seems a little difficult to asscociate with the aesthetics inherent in your images here...
overall anyway ;-)
