Thanks everyone! Actually banmorn noticed first about a week ago and asked me if I had got an email or anything to let me know it was going up. I hadn't and didn't know what he was talking about until I went to the site and saw it :). They also sent me $50 american express gift certificate so it can slowly start tempting me to get new gear, LoL. Thanks again all. :)

The website also says:

"Picture of the Day selections
also appear on the Kodak
Times Square Gallery in
the heart of New York City."

Is the Times Square Gallery "big". How many people will see it there?

Ken, it was the picture of the day on 03/20/07 and it appeared on the KODAK Jumbotron in Times Square then.

Here is me in Times Square :)
and the photo here at DPC
I had a previous vacation planned to Virginia and the POTD happened to come up when I was going to be on the East Coast. So my girlfriend and I hopped on a flight to NYC and stayed for eight hours and flew back. The sign is big, and the photo comes up every 5 to 10 minutes or so and then it shows the photographer's name. I would tell people walking by that I took that photo and they would ignore me like I asked them for a cigarette, LoL. It was great!

@biteme. Thats too funny, I'll see if he will be willing to be sent FedEx to ya!

And to anyone who wants to enter a shot to Kodak but don't know which size to use, I just submitted a web sized version, I think this photo I sent in at 800 pixels around 200 kb. Although I also sent a exact copy of my Stargazers entry with the minimal editing the challenge ran under and it got accepted. :).

Thanks everyone, DPC made this happen.

Following Skip's suggestion I went to the Kodak.com site to check out the submission requirements; here's a screenshot of what popped up. : )

I assume their terms of submission grant them the right to use the photos for advertising/promotional purposes ...

Yeah they can use it how they want to, From the terms and conditions on Kodak.com
In consideration of acceptance of my submitted photo as part of Kodak Picture of the Day, I hereby grant Kodak, and others with Kodak's consent, the right to copy, distribute, publish, display and otherwise use the photo and text for purposes of the Picture of the Day program or for any advertising or publicity on behalf of the program or similar future programs.

I agree that the photo and text may be cropped, edited, electronically manipulated or otherwise altered, and that whether the photograph is used is entirely for Kodak to decide.

On my image I can tell they did some burning on the left hand and background. I don't mind really I knew it was a possibility. :)
Thanks Paul, too bad you won't be at the GTG in Point Reyes, would be nice to see you again. I bet your son is getting big :)

My concern is that (I think) they are using the photo to promote their waterproof printing inks, not the POTD program ...

Isaac's getting big, and taking karate lessons : )
I may yet talk him into the outing, but I can't do much hiking around even if we make it there ... : (
