I just received a critique from the Critique Club (Thanks, Karen). Just wanted to drop a line to say that it is much apprecitated the teim and hard work and thought that goes into this. I haven't been active in DPChallenge since the Sins challenge - so I didn't even know this existed. I was pleasantly surprised!

Thanks again,

Mark

Is there any way I can keep from getting a certain photographer's photos? Namely My Wife's... Maybe someone else can trade me for one of theirs, considering it ever comes up.

No problem. Just let me know, and we can work out a trade. Of course, you may get a tougher one to critique. :-)

Anyone notice that Zadore has 2 photos to be critiqued? How does he rate? Just kidding, thought that was an odd coincidence.

Thanks Jimmsp for offering to trade. Can't wait to see what the next challenge brings.

I chose several challenges and then chose #25, #50, #75, #100, etc from those challenges for critique. I assigned them sequentially down my list of people...

I have done mine sorry to be a bit late but weekends are sometimes a problem for me! I think the guidelines are a great help!

There is no huge rush on finishing these critiques. I hope to have them completed by Thursday so we can move forward....

John, I'm watching this with great interest and wish I had the time to participate.

I was wandering if counter critiques from the reviewed are going to be a part of this. Say for example, some one judges (by habit I presume) the photojournalist shot as a product image. Maybe the "distrations" are part of the story. Could we request a second look?

Done.

I see no reason why someone shouldn't be able to add their own comment to their photo in response aelith.. it really justs keeps the "learning process" moving. :0)

I would not like the critic's critic ..
I do not think it's a good Idea ..
I do not give a comment/critic to get input or get scored (like we do for a picture)

The person can anyway ALWAYS add an other comment to answer ut , like they can do right now.

Personnally I admit that I am ok to discuss a little my comments, no problem with that .. but not more than that.

I didn't mean that the critique should be critiqued...
let me clarify...
I just meant that there is never a reason why the photographer can't comment, respond, or otherwise on his/her own photo.
It was mentioned, I think, in the vein of conversation on a photograph....not conversation on the critic. :0)

If the critiquers cannot be critiqued, they will never learn and get better. Critiquing is no more natural than taking pictures. I think it would be a seriously good thing for the critiques to be critiqued as well.

Critiquing the 'critique'... hmmm... please keep in mind that a 'critique' is nothing more than an opinion of the writer. A critique is not right or wrong. It is what the viewer sees and what the viewer thinks could be changed/improved, etc. There is no real reason to argue with it.

If the viewer did not see what you intended, you were unsuccessful with that particular viewer. It's not saying that your photo did not accomplish its goal overall.

Karen , yes that's what I meant people can always comment on the comment that's not a problem.

Jak, when I submit a picture, I submit it to be criticized, commented, scored. When I leave a comment, it's not the same even for sure it can be discussed. The initial goal is to help the photographer. So I am fine getting some comments on my critic on how to improve it but not more.

I think we need to be carefull .. this is a wonderfull Idea and a wonderfull goal ... and nobody did that ( really that 'not what I am saying) but let's try to be carefull not 'killing' the project by being too strict.

People that will do will do their best ( but I am human and do not always score in the 6s). This is not a class about 'how to do good critic' even if I will try to improve.

Right now .. we just need (with the help of everybody) to help this project to move on and be successfull within it's original goals ...

Lionel

PS : well .. maybe I am too strong in this message. sorry about that.

Je suis fini ;) (done)
11/25/2002 11:35:25 AM · #44
lol Zadore ....
:-) .. if you say "je suis fini" it means more like "I am a finished man" in this case it's " J'ai fini" like in "I have done ... what I wanted to do"
But still charming ! People at the office here laugh when I say I am cleever instead of I am clever ,-)

Would appreciate input on whether my critique was a little harsh.
