With exception of Big Bend, I haven't seen anything that competes against these in the state of Texas:

Rock Mountain National Park

Olympic National Park

Mount Rainier

Lost Maples - A nice but small park. 2 days max stay and you have seen it all, or just make a day trip out of it.

True, I went to Rocky Mountain National Park long ago and it was by far the best park I have been to. I know there may be others that are better, but I have not been to those yet. I still love Big Bend the most though.

Tony -- beautiful shot of Mt. Rainier -- I've actually never been anywhere near it like that. The effect with the trees and the angle of the reflection is great.
If you get out to California, try to visit Pt.Lobos State Reserve south of Monterey. Besides being one of the places you can see migrating whales from the shore, it has a reputation of being a fabulous place to shoot photos:

This is the most photocentric rant I've ever seen! :) I have 2 wishes...

I wish I lived somewhere that the trees turned so I could join in :) Southern California, the trees turn into ashes in the fall...

I wish Rants like this were more common :)
