I just noticed that the challenge text mentions "...you must take your picture this week (date to enddate)...".

Does this mean the picture has to be actually snapped during the specified week or can we use old photos we've taken in the past?

Chris, the shot has to be taken during the week of the start-end date. This is supposed to prevent the photographers with massive and/or excellent portfolios from swamping us newbies. . .

This is very important. Thank you for pointing it out.
This is an excellent opportunity to remind everyone to please be sure they have read and understand the site rules.

I thought so... It's so tempting to pick out a photo from the past to make it fit the current challenge but now that I think about it, that wouldn't really be fair (or creative) at all.

Thanks!

OT... I've noticed that people "With Cameras" usually rate images higher then those without cameras. I wonder why that is? I'd think that those without cameras would be less critical since they are exposed (no pun intended) to as many different pictures and therefore rate images higher in general.

Something to think about. I've noticed that my ratings on pictures generally fall into the rating that most others choose.

People that actually have a camera might have a more realistic idea of
how hard or easy certain shots are to take. Voters without cameras just
have their experience of media to show them how a 'good' photograph should look.

I think that those with cameras are generally more appreciative of photos. You can look at one and understand how difficult it might have been or how much work might have gone into it even if it didn't turn out perfect.
Also, I know that several people will go out and reshoot photos that they have taken before in order to enter in a new challenge.
