So, I had a couple comments regarding the illustration of a vanishing point with this photo. I'd like to throw it out for discussion.
Have at it, and don't worry about holding back if you have an opinion. I have my own understanding of a 'vanishing point' but I'll hold back for a bit.
I'm glad it was brought up.

I believe that the blue ribbon below the photo is the answer to your question. But for whats it is worth. I see the vanishing point in this photo. I was expecting a few comments of the same nature on my entry, but to my surprise that didn't happen. Nice pic btw...

First, it's a very good photo. Personally, I think it has an implied vanishing point, which was fine for the challenge.
But BTW, as much as I like this, I like your outtake shot much better!

Feh on the complainers. The voters obviously thought it showed the vanishing point concept well enough.
Although if I were you, I'd ask the SC to correct the spelling of "Sentinels" since it's going to be in your ribbon list forever. :)

When I was in school I took two courses, both similar but at the same time very different. The two classes were Art and Drafting. One is open for interpretation while the other was more formulated and technical. Why do I bring this up? I think it applies to your picture. Looking at it as art, it represents vanishing point very well. Looking at it from a technical aspect there is room for debate depending on what element of your photograph I am looking for the vanishing point, the path? The foliage on the left or right of the path, etc. So the answer is did the voter look at vanishing point technically or artistically. In my opinion the photograph as a whole should be judged technically but the challenge should be judged artistically. Therefore IMO you meet the challenge well. Very nice shot technically and artistically.

I initially thought I would enter the curvy path one but it seemed like a stretch to illustrate vanishing point.
My understanding is that a vanishing point can be implied or actual. FWIW I thought the yellow ribbon showed vanishing points not only down the center but also showed VPs radiating from each side due the shape of the architecture. Wiki has a nice explanation of the different types of VP.
This was the perfect illustration of VP in my mind.
Until now I always thought that a vanishing point was outside of the field of view but most submitters chose a VP that was inside the frame of the picture. Room for debate I guess. Thanks Scott for your nice reply.
AGain, I'm not offended that anyone brought it up. I had some insecurities when I submitted and that's why i didn't go with the curvy one!
I should've checked the spelling dangit! I knew it didn't seem right but never followed up on the spell check. Maybe SC can change it...
