I bought John Hedgecoe's 'How to Take Great Photographs' book last week! What a great book. I'd like to recommend Tim Daly's book 'The Digital Printing Handbook'.

Lionel, I love all of your images. They are wonderful! I was going to tell you which one I liked best, but I am finding that too hard a choice at the moment. Well done!

I think we need an EGG challenge to get the egg photos out of everyone's system

I find it easier to think of something unique for a photograph when the subject is already given to me (like the pencil challenge)

I only used one light source for these images, though for some I did
employ a reflector too. Mainly I was focusing on getting a good exposure
to bring out the features I was looking for (e.g., smooth shadow, or
highlighted egg edges etc)

Gordon I noted excellent compositioning and the added frame is neat.

I only just saw this question:

camera and press all the way down to take the shot...

No, it doesn't have focus lock. Everything is completely automatic except white balance and EV compensation. It's really a very basic, low end camera, which I would never have dreamed of using for serious photography until my SLR was stolen late last year.

John I like hammer I for the writing 'craftsman', the texture, and the angle. I like hammer IV for the cinetic, the movment in the head and in the 'handle' as well.

Gordon , I like 'Balance' .. very smple ... basic .. but quiet and serene .. and I like 'Sunrise' as well .. for the creativity .. the difference in textures and colors

Lionel : well .. I like the number one for the texture of the egg and the box in the middle .. close but different granularity. Hammer 2 for the colors, the 'balance' of the hammer and the reflectio of the hammer on the glass. And the last one because I thought it was original , the hammer head looks like a guy .. we have a guy name Folon in france who does drawings very serene and calm of abrastract people flying .. hard to explain

Aelith : I am not very appealed by the mouse, it miss, I think texture and .. I do not know ... there is one I like though, micky the 'blue' one ...
