Day 5

This is bridgette...what a smart cat...I told her not to look at the camera and look how well she behaved. :) Now I know why I don't shoot kids (with a camera).

Edit: Oh, this was some seamless background I snagged from work. A couple Big Lots! clamp lights. Full frame, no crop, tilt or anything like that...but a ton of Levels and Curves.

Day 5:

Toasting with beer - Theodore J. Lowi, professor at Cornell University since 1972. I was attending an event tonight when he walked up the podium to talk about something, the gliter in his eyes presented the portrait for my day 5

How cool, Vikas! If ever there was a "Mad Professor", this is it, huh? Fantastic candid capture!

My kids were just being super cooperative today. Mich I can never get to look at the camera anyway, and Brie was in a bored, pouty sort of mood. Thank goodness there's only one more day of Spring Break.

Day 6 - Stevie

I think I may just this Challenge trying to get good at mono candids. While this may not be as technically demanding as studio work you try whipping your camera out in an all male work environment and start shooting portraits and see what sort of reaction you get.

Curiously the cage shown here is not the same one they keep my mother in (see day 5 above). It's a different cage altogether. It may be a recurring motif. Something philosophical. Or I might just move in circles where they have a lot of cages.

Thanks to all the people who contributed suggestions for controlling glare. In future I am going to dab my subjects with gravy. That should do the trick.
