It is really great to read such an uplifting thread for a change! And I'm not at all surprised that the DPC community includes such educational opportunities - I think it's GREAT! This information was news to me too, however, so I will be watching the group much more closely as my newest Favorite.
And congratulations Céline!!! WTG! |

This would be very cool to have a GTG where y'all are located one of these days! :)

We live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada within a bilingual (English and French) agency OCAPDD or AOCPDI. Our Center, CTC or Community Transition Center or centre de transition communautaire operates strictly in French but we can communicate with anyone in French, English or Spanish.

Thought this thread deserved to be unearthed. There was some discussion during recent challenges about entries which looked like they were taken by the same person/camera and at the same time/location.
I missed this collaboration of artists the first time around, but a little reading in this thread cleared up my questions. To reiterate what others posted back in 2005...I think it is great that the admins encouraged this collective and granted them the permission to enter challenges as a group.
Two recent pictures(some of you may recall) and a link to the group clictacamera and Donald
and
Keep up the good work Donald. NO BOUNDRIES!
Oh, and Donald... Looks like the students have surpassed their teacher. ;) |

Oh wow, that makes so much more sense now. So there's been photos from the group that was given special permission, and similar ones from the teacher? |

On that challenge there were, yes. But there were also a couple other "pairs" of entries lately that are unrelated to this group, such as two of the lowest scoring cellphone entries. I think these are partly what mpeters was thinking of. |

Hmmmm, yes. That bothers me alright. Someone should look into those 2. |

The cell phone entries are OK, too; they were submitted by a photography class that also had prior special permission from Langdon.

I didn't see the cell phone entries, just the Bday cakes. I'm glad that two groups are participating!

step 1 We print out the day's challenges to begin our search
step 2 We share ideas on what, how and where to find our subject
step 3 Hop a bus and stay alert to capture any photo on the fly
step 4 Clic what you love and become specialized in a few subjects
step 5 Spot a challenge photo or a friends specialized subject
step 6 Shoot with the camera differently and often (2hr outing ends)
step 7 Before deadline view, choose, edit and submit challenge
Entries are only submited via staff when photographer is absent during step 7. Group members give input but ultimate decisions and equipment maniputation is completely hands-on. The best part is seeing dpchallengers pride of ownership and the chance to communicate abroad afterwards within a very limited time frame. If staff did anything more the activity would be pointless. |
It may be a good idea to put this description into the ClictaCamera profile, so anyone looking at the profile in future understands how the group go about submitting a photo.

Funny. I noticed the similar entries and reported it to the SC.
I was delighted to learn the real story. Donald, it's terrific that you're doing this, and it's terrific that the folks running DPC are supporting you! :)

This proves that DPC is a learning site, despite the problems that can arise when voters note similar entries to challenges. However, I think multiple member membership should be flagged to avoid this sort of thread in the future. I wholeheartedly welcome groups where participation is an educational tool and hope that DPC continues to embrace all who wish to be involved in photography as a hobby and learning tool.
Well done DPC for your intiative and the commitment to further the joys of photography for those who benefit the most from partaking in these challenges.
It makes being a member here a pleasure. Long may it continue. DPC Rules OK!! |
