Team Suck is opening the nominations for two distinguished sucker awards.

If you have ideas for someone who should get an OOBIE or a YAPPIE, please post your suggestions in this thread.

An OOBIE sucker is awarded to an "Out Of the Box" entry in a DPChallenge, something that meets the challenge in a creative fashion that DPC voters might not have properly appreciated. It's helpful to have a statement why you are making the nomination for the OOBIE. Please include the username of the photographer.

A YAPPIE sucker is given to a commentor for either a particular comment or a history of great comments. For the YAPPIE, listing a representative comment with a photo would be, as Martha would say, "a good thing".

Yappie Hall of Fame

This set of nominations will close Saturday, 31mar2007.

A nomination for a special "Good Sport" sucker for John. A good and willing model can be hard to find. Mine all run away.

I thought this one from the Cell Mania is a good candidate.

I'd like to nominate our founders, Drewmedia and Langdon for a rare double-Yappie - if I'm not mistaken, they both commented on every entry in the Birtday challenge.

OK, I don't know that Drew did, but I think Langdon did!

I nominate Kali's shot from Langdon's birthday for the OOBie:

It's got a pretty small subject and it's pretty dark, but it effectively conveys a present and the title fits well.

I also nominate boysetsfire's shot from color portrait:

For the yappie, I nominate KarenNfld. She makes about 3 times as many comments as she gets and she's always supportive.

I am just a regular visitor to you thread, (because I love it so much) but can an image from the past challenge some time ago, before you had "Yappies" and definately before you had "OOBIES", be selected for one of these awards, especially the "Oobie" award.

I like you to consider this image, which is way out of the box, re the idea how it was done by hywind called "A "10" with An View". Please read the comments and how it was done, and you will see why I am asking you this.....

Many thanks for this thread, as I for one, really love it.....

Although SandyP already has a Yappie, I think she should get nominated at some point for the special Cat Yappie, 'cause she should definitely join Jutilda in yapping enough for nine lives. She is an incredible commenter!
03/29/2007 10:07:31 PM · #162
I second that..... as one could not met, or know, a more deserviong loving and friendly person that Sandy.....

Hahaha, thank you, Mary, for nominating John for a good sport sucker! He really was!

I wanna third the nomination of SandyP for a catyappie. She is as gentle and sweet as her bestest baby photo - a truly gracious soul. AND there is a very good chance that the person who seconded this nomination is quite due for a catyappie herself.

I have 2 OOBie noms, both suckas!

One is Melethia for wishing Langdon a voh-dee-oh-doh with a bunch of lizards! Woo hoo!

And the other is Jaysonmc who has been a total OOBer lately!!

03/30/2007 12:09:40 AM · #164
Heh! Appreciate the lizard nod, second the nod on Jayson's stuff of late (especially the circles) and third the nod for SandyP who goes above and beyond. Also second the nod on Sherpet for a CatYappie.

A nomination for a special "TLC" sucker for the mother of Melethia.

Quote from Melethia, "My mom rocks. I send her my challenge choices via either email or IM - she helps me pick which ones I enter sometimes. Other times I just send her my entries. I sent her my entry for the Acronym challenge. She printed it on fabric and made it into a totebag for me. Is that not the coolest thing??"

I second that also ;-)

Wow! Very nice, you guys! I'll cut and paste that and send it to her in an email. She'll be tickled!

I third. She truly took your photograph out of the box!!

I would like to nominate Zardoz for a yappie. He took the time to comment in depth on a number of my profile pics. Here's the most in depth one (but they were all helpful)

I have never nominated anyone before so please let me know if I am doing it right.

Thanks

That'll work just fine - and I second your nomimation - good, thorough, and helpful comments!

I'd like to nominate this entry in Still by russi for an OOBIE. I find it fascinating that a moment so clearly part of an action is so strikingly frozen and still. I love looking at it.

I'd like to nominate this for an OOBIE, especially after reading the photographers comments.

From the Still challenge...

OOooo thank you WriteHeart, I've never been nominated for anything before :-)
I have been away from DPC for a while, been real busy, blah, blah, but it's nice to be back. I seem to be having a good day 'cause someone wants to buy a print from me - another first. I may even try entering another challenge, lol!
