This is probably the best example I have. Shot ISO3200
The grain is what makes it work for me.

There's a Monochromatic check box so you can have it in color or B&W.

Yo Bearmusic, gonna get me a bear and dress him and have him in front of my Entrance pic (cameraphonic), have him dance, play the violin and if he's not against the grain reward him with whiskey. (Either a blue or a brown, none of this 4 or 5 wishy washy).

Knob Creek will suit him nicely....

Just a note to those who may be seeking serious input: if you want "grain" in-camera, shoot at the highest possible ISO and the lowest possible jpg quality. ISO 3200 + jpg small, on the Canon 20D. The more you have to reduce image size to reach 640, the less will be the effect of the image "grain". Plus, of course, you can always crop the snot out of it, and exacerbate the effect.

Now that I have learned so much here (I know hard to tell in my scores), I wish I could go back and re-do this image:

I think if it had been sharper and less grain it would have done better...live and learn.

Finally, a chance to shoot in ISO 1600!

I imagine that one could always underexpose, too, and bring up the exposure on the computer, to really help the grain shine through.

I like this example. Unfortunately it would have little chance competing with the more forced and contrived noisy images if the last challenge is any indicator.
