From the moment you bought any one of your cameras, to the moment you got it out of the box and into your hands for use, what was the longest you waited.

I ask because Monday I bought my new Nikon D80. It's now Thursday morning and it's still in the box. I've just had way too much work and that nice package is just staring me in the face. I know if I open it I won't get all the work done that I need to do and will be rushing last minute. I hope to have it out by Friday night or Saturday afternoon.

Mine is suppose to arrive today by UPS. I will have it out of the box as soon as I get my little hands on it. Might take me a few days to figure out how to use it though! But...I'm retired so I have too much time on my hands anyway! :)

When I bought my D200, I handled in the store, while driving the hour home, I had it out of the box by the time I was out of the parking lot and "handled" it at every light and even sometimes when not stopped! ;)

I'm like the proverbial kid in a candy store...

I had that happen to me. I took 2 days off in April / 03 to get my first DSLR - 10D. I had been so excited I couldn't sleep at night. So I picked it up from the camera store at 9:30am when they opened. Then I left it in the box until supper, procrastinated tunil supper, then charged the battery. Weird. Kind of like "the hunt is more fun than the kill" or however that goes.

I'm currently waiting for the arrival of 4 cameras. I can still sleep at night though. I'm getting a Holga ($25), a Lubitel 166 ($30), a Oktomat ($35), and a Yashica 124G. Also waiting for b&w processing chemicals and junk. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. F&%k digital. Kidding, just new toys to play with.

Yup, me too. What stinks with getting a new camera (and most rechargeable things) is you want to play with it right away, but have to wait for the stinking batteries to charge first. When will camera stores wake up and offer additional, fully-charged batteries so you can play with it right out of the store? They'd make a killing!

My little Sony takes AA's, so I just threw in a pair of alkaline batteries while the NiMH ones charged.

I got mine home and had it sitting in my closet for a week. I made a deal with my fiancee that I wouldn't use it until I paid off my credit card. After a week she thought it was stupid to have it sitting there not doing anything so she told me to get it out. I charged up the battery and then popped it in...only to find out that my shiny new camera was borked. So I took it in and got a replacement. Again, I had to charge up the batteries. I took my first pictures that night. So probably 8 or 9 days? Looking back I don't know how I had the patience to wait so long.

Would be funny if someone had a camera on Walmart Layaway and got it after 2 months and the damn thing didnt work. I wonder when they consider the recipted purchase date to be?

Sounds like newlyweds. I think my cameras are going through 7 year itch now.
