I borrowed a lensbaby from a buddy and shot some elements for a web site I'm developing -
Unfortunately I had to borrow his 20D to shoot with - so you can see I was pretty handicapped :-p
He has the new deluxe lens baby. Here's the basic drill:
1- Release the locks from the previous shot ("resets" the lens)
2- Looking through the viewfinder, compress the lens until it's pretty close to focused
3- Use the fine focus adjustment ring to bring you shot into clearer focus
4- Tweak, twist, and turn the three knobs to further adjust the effect
5- Shoot in manual - so take several shots to get the exposure correct
6- Move locations and go back to step 1
Want to try a different aperture? You get a magnet and reach down into the lens and pull out a mettalic washer, attach another metallic washer (with a different opening) and place it back into the lens! I've never been so grateful for an aperture ring!
So it's a LOT of work, and frankly, was darn disappointing when I got back to my computer. But it was a hurried shoot with a camera I wasn't familar with. I'm sure I could get to predictable results with practice.
I'm trying to sell the web site client on lensbaby portraits of their staff for the site - so I'd better get predictable fast!
Here's what I got Lensbaby Shots
This will be plenty to comp together the design for the pitch - guess I have to go buy one now. Lot's of work but so much fun to see what it does.
Anyway, thought I'd share.

Pretty cool! I ordered myself one today! Husband bought a new 90 gallon fish tank so I thought I deserved a present too!

lens babies are a lot of fun. this is some of the stuff i've done with mine. i've shot more interesting stuff since then, but haven't uploaded it. they take quite a ibt of practice. i've found a hig pass layer, masked for just the section in focus, improves the clarity quite a bit.
Lensbaby, baby!
and these are some challenge entries. not really dpc friendly...;-P

This is what I've done with a lensbaby so far.
