Can someone please help me understand what Street Photography Technique is? I am in a learning process and have never heard of such a technique.
Thank you,
jamie

I'm trying to figure that one out myself. No idea, what they mean but I wouldn't worry about it.
Just look at a lot of street images and get a feel for what they do and have in common.

Well hopefully someone will know and can help us. I want to enter as many challenges as possible, but I need to understand what they mean first.

So it's pretty much, go out on the street and shoot away at something you think is a good capture of emotion?

And to think I've been wasting all of my time shooting macros of asphalt.

candid shots , usually urban.
easiest setting is iso 400 and f8. flexible iso, and pretty broad f stop.

That's the thing - there's nothing that says it has to be 'candid' either. A whole lot of street photography isn't candid...

You can also examine photos of the artist mentioned in the challenge description:
Henri Cartier-Bresson

I set this shot up. This is a friend of mine. I just had her grab her guitar and stand at the side of the road with her thumb out. |

I'd agree from what I've seen Street doesn't need people at all.
Not to pick on you but I'm not sure f8 or that range, is any standard I think people even generally work in. It's a pretty wide open genre. That's a tough one to call and I don't know if there's any guidline that I would stick to.

Would people be needed in the shot, IYO? Living in a small town of less than 200 people I might not find many living subjects.

Any 'evidence' of people, even if inanimate, would suffice, IMO. |
