Gordon pointed out that National Geographic are doing a competition. To be quite honest, I think this is too good an opportunity for DPC to pass up on. Perhaps we should have a GC - themed travel photography competition, with part of the challenge being to strongly encourage people to enter their prints into the GC competition as well?

Just a thought..

That's a neat idea...

That looks like a fun competition. Looking at the winners from 2002, there is one thing common about all the images except one. Each one of them has 'life' in it, and a majority of those are 'people'.

Each of the winners, IMO, was quite compelling in some way. I haven't done a lot of travelling in the last two years and I'm not convinced that anything I have in my portfolio would do particularly well in this competition, but I plan to submit 4 prints. I have nothing to lose :) I would encourage everyone to submit. It costs nothing and you could get lucky :)

Of all the competitions in the world, I would probably say that the NG competition is the one you have the least chance to win anything on pure luck ;)

But I agree. After all - NOT submitting is the only way to be sure NOT to win!

I'm going to check that out. It's funny because I was thinking that the recent Magazine Cover challenge seemed at times to be a NG cover challenge ....
