That was in my home area, just North of Hillarys marina. That was the day I got the shot I entered into the free study. |

So was it all happening at the same time or just the same place? Let me say that I think it is amazing either way and just curious. But the comment on the photo says it was stitched together pano from three images. I would have loved to have been there! |

Yeah, at first I thought it was just a once-in-a-lifetime shot, but it was a panorama. Still, the three of those things happening at once is a huge deal. |

I first wondered too if it was a couple different images, but looking at the people on the beach and stuff I really think it was just a very wide angle lens and of course a long exposure. Would be cool to know the truth.
edited cause I actually read the caption this time (thanks Gordon). :D Still a very cool image.

Just an example why Perth is the best city in the world! :) Thanks for sharing! We had an excellent storm that night. We were at a party and watched the fireworks from our friends front yard whilst lightning flashed all around us! Was amazing!

The fireworks and the storm did happen at the same time! I think Comet McNaught would of still been visible too so there is a good chance that what you see is what it was!

The caption says it is multiple images. I'm sure it all happened around the same time, but it isn't one instant in time.

Well Australia Day (Jan 26) is always celebrated by fireworks and the comet was visible that night and there was a thunderstorm that night also so it is conceivable that it is 3 images shot one immediately after another. Bear in mind that there seems to be a long shutter speed too. |
