wow, I just got a new puppy also! mines a "lapsapoo" which is total fun because if said fast enough and with my southern ohio accent it sounds like "lots of poo".

I named mine "Sir Winston", and now I'm dieing for a pet challenge

Well, as a life long dog owner, a owner of a variety of breeds, my one big rule of thumb is to name my dogs a one syllable name. But, with my most recent puppy, the rule was violated to because of the kids. So, I have a Belgian Shepard named "Star", a Dalmatian named "Patch" and a German Shepard named "Clifford".

Except Clifford is a girl. But, that is a different story:)

Okay, so I've been lame and bailed on this thread after I posted it. It's been a crazy couple of days and haven't had a chance to take a decent picture of {Schotzi?} yet. Will try tomorrow, then email them to someone to post for me. Thanks for all the great suggestions! If nothing else, they've made me smile.

Bazi - pronounced baahtsy (the a like in "car", the i like in "his").

In Bavarian (i.e. the dialect of southern Germany) that means something like rascal.

By the way, if you're going for "Schotzi", it is actually spelled "Schatzi", again with the "a" pronounced as in "car".

Dummkopf - (my grandfather used to call me this ;-)

or how about Strudel... or maybe Hedwig... (cuz you'll probably have him neutered)

Hund can never be a "Das". There is only a race called Dachschund, but you will never hear "Das Hund(e)"
Der Hund (because Hund is a masculine word) or die Hunde (die, when there is more than one).

My apologies, I get most of my German from watching Kommisar Rex.
