I just went and read many many photography "how to" websites under the subject "fill the frame" every single one of them said to fill the frame with the majority of your subject. Get nice and close. Not a single one said that it had to be 100% filled with one item.
now back to the previously scheduled conversation..... about pots and karz and the like |

May I just say publicly here Tihadi, you would do well to temper your opinions with a grain of salt. Like I am here. It is obvious are now taking your self important attitude and spewing negativity on everyone else by voting 4 or less on their fine work. I have not even looked at everyone else's entries yet but to vote that low on mine and leave your hit and run DNMC comment just proves to everyone who will see it in the future what you are.
Now take your ball and go home.
PS Get a spell checker for your computer, Google offers one for free which works with your browser. I took the liberty to fix your mistakes in this post.

I am afraid you are wrong. And I think you brought the childhood thing for reasons you only know. Did I guess right?

I managed to get one thing to fill the frame but in doing so parts of it were out of focus. So I have a proud DNMC sitting there by way of commentary. Cut and pasted, no doubt. I'll probably live.
Oh, and just to add to all the antiques and curios jumbling up the thread: passe partout

Some people saw that as DNMC . And that was their opinion.
SO!
And some others really liked it and left beautiful remarks.
It is all ok.
May be youself with few years of maturing will see diferent views are ok. ... |
I don't get this Tareq. You yourself say that it takes a mature person to see different views, and you mention that some saw your last entry as DNMC (which, according to you, was their opinion) - yet you go on to say (with starting this thread) that many ("big percentage") of the entries aren't complying "with the rules" of this challenge?!
It's ok for your entry to flirt "with the rules" (B/W Portrait), yet not for others to do so in this challenge (Fill the Frame II)?
Are different views of what meets the challenge allowed in your opinion, or not? |

Not at all . It is not ok for me or for anyone to play with the rules.
The photo shown above was taken in B/W and I chose to give it this tinting and U believe it remains B/W , some others share the same opinion with me and some others do not.
When I got the DNMC I accepted and respected their ruling, not agreeing to it at the same time.
But kept quit... IT IS THEIR OPINION
I am not trying to force anything on anyone.
I hope I am understood.
Thanks

It's cool - mostly. One thing I think that is muddying things up here is that "rules" versus "challenge description" are two different things.
Nobody should break the "rules" - those are monitored and infractions can result in penalties (DQ, etc...).
Not following the "challenge description" is the photographer's choice. It may be foolish (scoring wise) to not follow the "description", but technically it's "ok" to do so. I for one, try not to stray very far from the box ("challenge description"). :) |

Sheeesh people!!! There is SO much anger flying around at the moment - what's going on??? It's on this thread, on the minimalism thread, on the Exit/Entrance thread....People are angry, and frustrated and it's reflecting in their way of voting too it seems.
Now let's all hold hands and sing together: 1,2,3 and...
"I'd like to build the world a home, and furnish it with love....grow apple trees and honey bees and snow white turtle doves...la la la la lala la la, la la la lala la...that's song I sing"
Altogether now...
(and a 'frame' is simply the outline of the image. it's not a physical heavy frame and border. All images submitted for this challenge and others have a frame whether or not they want one. Frame is both a literal, physical thing and the more abstract, verby thing eg hair can frame a face)

The irritating thing about the non-framefillers is that I was too much of a coward to follow suit. I passed on half a dozen far superior shots simply because, cropped or not, they either wouldn't totally fill the frame or would end up looking pretty goofy if cropped to do so.
Then again, that's probably why filling the frame completely was the 'challenge'. |

I have already received that dreaded DNMC comment. I understand fully that my entry DNMC however, if I had a problem with that I would not have entered it. If you feel that it is DNMC, comment so but leave criticism as how well or bad you believe the photo to be.
However photography is art. Art is left to veiwer/artist interpretation. Therefore, if someone feels that Fill the Frame is taking a picture of a picture frame, then that is their interpretation. When i vote I dont depend too much on the challenge title. I vote on how I well I think the photo is.
Just my take on it all. |

I feel so unappreciated. I have no comments at all - not even a DNMC. I do have a very lovely score well below 5, however. :-)

Thanks, my dear! I always keep scores on the side. Usually off, too. SO much easier to deal with challenges that way. I did peek, which is how I know about the sub sub 5, but hey, I'm gonna print this one, so there, dear voters! :-) |

Well, if THAT poster could at least give one to absolutly everybody, and avoids comments, then that would be good. It would have the same impact on everybody and then nobody would be upset.
His comment on my picture contains assumptions that I do not appreciate AT ALL, and regarding on what they relate tp is really BAD.

Yes, nobody is not going to get upset over this.
And, since 2 negatives make a positive, we really ought to be careful in case nobody loses it!

If it was your opinion that the image stated was black and white, you would be wrong it is red. A color is not an opinion it is a fact. Thus your complete explanation for your red black and white entry would mean your image DNMC. How can a color or a lack of color be an opinion?
No you are not understood. Not in a sense that you are making any sense. I understand you have a superior attitude and that's just fine, hopefully someday you will have something happen that humbles you a bit and you will come to know what a foolish thread you created here.
Thank you.
