What Robert fails to mention is back in '98 he groped an intern. There has also been unconfirmed reports that his famous jejeje⢠was in fact stolen from a small Bosnian boy during the Great War. |

I agree....which brings me also to ask everyone to please stop PMing me asking...no pleading.....with me to run for one of the SC positions. I realize you all love me, but really, I am not cut out for such a job. :P |

To quote Ceaser: 'I came, I saw, I ran away!'
SC do a great job. The idea of volunteering seems stupidly enticing. Then reality kicks in, I am too confrontational, too lazy and too scared to put my name forward. I don't have the knowledge to adjudicate disputes, to define rules or pacify the aggrieved. Therefore, I will be putting my name forward...right! See that wall, my head, bang, bang! No way.
Anyone with either the ego or the dedication should volunteer. Hopefully it will be the later. Good Luck to those who step forward. I can guess a few who will put their names forward cos it fits their trip. I just hope sense prevails and we get solid, consistent SC members who don't get a kick from their new status.

Depending on who makes it, then, I might volunteer to be an SC intern. ;)

I think one of the big challenges of being an SC member would be holding back in some discussions because despite little disclaimers ("SC hat off")people still view them as authority figures on the site. I would hate to have to pick and choose when I should have an opinion on something. |

That can be confusing but if you know ahead of time that no one member of the SC speaks for the SC than you'll realize it's just an opinion abeit one that carries a little more weight. Ff you really want an offical answer you should use the contact forms. Maybe a disclaimer like this could be on the sigs of each SC to avoid this confusion? |

It seems this thread isn't the only change happening on high.
Judging by their icons, muckpond has become kirbic's evil twin. Me thinks someone has been having a bit too much fun. :D
But perhaps even more desturbing is the absense of drewmedia on the Photographer's Profiles page. His profile page is still reachable by direct link (so it hasn't been deleted), but he does not appear when searched for by username. Not sure what to think of this one. :(

Now, where's that "Ex-SCs Club"? That's one gripey bunch, let me tell you :) |
I think we need a forum. Or at least some icons. Little walking sticks or 'curmudgeon' signs. The SC seems to spit people out bitter and cantankerous :) |
perhaps something along these lines? |
Oh, yes. A white beard, I like it. But it needs a pink shirt. |
And knee high black socks with sandals. :) |

I would like to nominate [deleted].
If he has been nominated already, then I second it.
If the nomination has been seconded, then I would like to vote for...

does a site-council have to be someone popular and widely accepted by the other members? doh

I received a PM or two stating that I should put my hand up because I'm located in Australia and do spend a lot of time on here but I think after reading comments in this thread I'll do the smart thing and back away! Good luck to those who have put their hand in! ;)

Makka..don't let the whingers scare you off. If you feel you are right for the position...then put in an application. If those whingers think they can do better...then let them put an application in...not to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. Only you can make that decision.

Hey Manic, can you tell us approximately how many people have applied so far? I'm guessing there has been quite a high response, but I'm surprised by how few have posted in this thread.
Just curiosity.

About 35 - 40 when I asked yesterday.
However the words foregone conclusion spring to mind here. Still, waiting until rollover gives the impression thats its all being done democratically.
Normal programming has resumed.

We currently have 40 applicants, but there's still more than 12 hours to go, so if it's anything like challenges there'll be another 20-30 last-minute ones ;o)

There's no foregone conclusions here - the field is pretty much wide open, lots of good candidates so far. I expect our deliberations will take several days...
