This is really amusing and educational. I think that both my entries show some progressive thinking as far as meeting the challenge, but my B&W offering has really riled the folks up! I've gotten 81 votes and 14 comments in less than 24 hours.
That's a lot, right?
The funny thing is, I don't care at all how my B&W entry does in the scoring now 'cause of how the comments vary. I have sparked ALL points of view from "DNMC" as one to "While a bit out of the box (just a bit) I think that you met the challenge well and in a gutsy way.".
Another guy's comment hit exactly how I arrived at the choice of my entry......
THAT'S what I like to see!
I'm just having a blast!
My Procrastination entry is down a little, but it's still my personal best by more than a full point.
And the comments have been great!

I don't think I can vote on the challenge now, because I tend to see all the pictures a a whole lot more boring than mine - so they must all be threes, right?
(They do have all that amateurish focus and lack of blur and stuff, but hey . . .)

THIS WEEK'S RESULTS!!!!
BLUE==============Team Chasing Butterflies=6.543333333
RED===============The OOFers===============6.168866666
YELLOW============Team Novice==============5.9674
sacred quadrangle=Team Minus===============5.924366667
iambic pentameter=The Hoovers==============5.6882
BROWN=============Team Entropy=============5.593833333
well, Team Chasing Butterflies is just insane. We may have to split these people up or something Communistic like that. The Momentary Lapse of Sucking Award, however, goes to bryantbus with her insanely high scoring bird thingy.
Okay, Butterflies, you better collect nominations this week. Team Suck is looking for any excuse to get rid of the competition!! hahahaha
Congratulations to the personal besters this week and thanks to quiet observation for listing them.

After looking at the above scores, it's hard to believe that this group of teams is called "Team Suck". These teams could probably rival most of the teams in the WPL.
YOU PEOPLE DON'T SUCK!!!!!! |

Okay, I still don't understand how the OOBIES and YAPPIES nominations work.
How many people can I nominate? Are the nominees only on Team Suck? Who gets yappies, a person on team suck who gave good comments to other team suckers? What qualifies as out of the box? Where no I put the nominations, on the thread or on the photo? Do I only give nominations to people on my team??
I am so confused, and for probably no reason 0_0'

Yappies and OObies are awarded BY team suck TO anyone at all. By winning for the week, you earn the privilege to award a Yappie and an Oobie to anyone you like. Usually this is done by collecting nominations publically on a thread and then voting with your teammates to pick the award winners. "out of the box" is defined by you. There is no team of accountants to tell you how to define it. Well, there was one but we hitched them to a sled. We haven't heard from them since Nome.

OK, I'll probably screw this up, someone will correct me if I do though. LOL.
You can nominate as many as you want, but they should all be from the most recent challenges.
The nominees need not belong to any team (of suck or otherwise).
Same with yappies. Just someone who gave some very good comments (point out the comment if you can) or a high quantity on a particular challenge.
There should be a nomination thread (not sure where it is at the moment)..
As for "out of the box". Something that fits the challenge in an obsure way, but failed score wise.
All of team suck can nominate, but the winning team each week makes the decision on who wins.
edit: too slow!

From the other scores posted, I deduce that Team Suck is good at procrastination, and our portraits suck.
I've entered Match, and am trying to come up with a decent idea for Battle. |

I'm sucking in Procrastination and sucking in Songs but can't tell you just how much since I turned off scores.
I do have an entry in Best of, but nothing at the moment for any of the other challenges coming up. Have to see what the weekend brings, though I hear that may be rain. |

So....
Does the excitement faery get sent out once you join Team Suck?
My DP Challenge life has just gotten like Tom Cruise's life in "Risky Business"......"Time of your life, huh kid?"
I've got a wildly high score (for me), and a wildly controversial entry going on at the same time.....since I joined Team Suck.
WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS DONE TO ME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I think you should consider reducing your caffeine intake...
Don't worry - your enthusiasm may (and I say "may" because your mileage may vary) wane when you run into and endless string of not inspiring scores with limited comments. All it takes is one good challenge to kick it back into gear, though. |

Possibly. The true test is whether or not it has a comment from our fearless leader. |

Butterflies should decide which of their team members is the master of ceremonies for the awards. The master coordinates nominations, votes, and announcements.
See below. I jumpstarted the nomination threads. Review the OOBIE and YAPPIE nominations threads occasionally for candidates suggested after 1/10/07--bump threads if necessary.
Take nominations from anyone on DPC - politely ignore anyone that nominates their photograph - someone else has to do it.
The butterflies should decide before next Wednesday who gets an OOBIE award and who gets a YAPPIE award.
Tuesday night or Wednesday morning start a new thread and announce the winners. Last winners' thread.. It helps if you put the winners names in the thread.
Study hard; the final exam will be 10 questions true or false.

I just noticed a cool thing - first I noticed that Rae-Ann got a new camera for Christmas, so I clicked on it to see what it was. When I got to that camera's page here on DPC, I noticed that the 15th highest scoring picture for that camera belongs to none other than our very own kdsprog and I think that is indeed, very cool. Congrats, Kelli! |
