In the spirit of the season I want to find a new home for my old Fuji 4900Z camera and accessories. It just sits there and does not get used and it is such a good camera even though it is older. See:
Fuji FinePix 4900Z
For more detail:
DPReview of camera
This camera will provide a great learning platform for up and coming photographers. It has full manual settings as well as many of the settings of a DSLR. Pretty good lens with both Macro and 6x optical zoom capability. It will come with case, five cards (16MB to 64MB), three batteries (one may be bad) and charger/power cord. I will also pay shipping anywhere in the US or Canada, oversees would be on you.
This thread will be open for one week and then I will pick the best candidate based on responses here and recommendations from other DPC'ers. Final decision is of course subjective and mine to make but I will lean towards a needy youth who comes with recomendations. Please provide a little background on the applicant.
Any takers or ideas on who is a deserving candidate?

That's very nice of you! I'm sure someone will jump at this opportunity. You can take very nice pictures with any camera. It's not about the equipment, it's about the photographers eye. Still looks like a nice camera though.
Happy holidays! |

I'm going to nominate my son. Since I've gotten the photo bug, he wants to shoot with me all the time. He's 11 now and I think it will be a worthwhile thing for him to do.
I'm sure there are many more people who want or need this more, but I figured I'd step up and be the first.
And might I add how wonderfully generous you are being.

Fuji 4900z was my first digital, and many of my really nice images were taken with it. I followed it up with a Nikon Coolpic 5500 for more megapixels, and that turned out to have been a silly move. I preferred the 4900z. I still have it, it's my backup camera. Good piece of equipment :-) Both these were shot with the 4900z: it's a really nice little macro camera :-)

This was my first digital camera also Bear. Bought it in Dec 2000 for a trip to Italy in 2001. Here are a few of the shots I took with it that are still in my portfolio:
I'm sure someone out there will help me a good home. So far I have Mike's son on the list. |

I nominate my little brother, he always wants to go out with me and take photos... I have been showing him how to use my camera and he loves it. He is now 13 and always wants to do what I do, and the photography he is really into and is always looking at my photos here or he is checking out other DPC'ers photos here.

I'm going to nominate wavelength's sister. She's in some far-east country (Nepal?) and is sans camera and sans ability to garner a camera ... at least as of this summer. |

She could be in the running if wavelength is willing to pay the shipping to that far-east country, whereever that is.

Since I nominated I would be willing to pay the shipping to said far-eastern country.
Not next-day though. Nor three day express. |

OK - one more for the night crowd.
Just realized I listed this only under Member section. Maybe I should ask SC to move it so all can see? Can that be done?

SC can move it, if so desired. Me? I consider it a member benefit, but that's selfish JP talking :) Holiday spirit would say open it to all. |

Im sure she will pay you the postage she is very poor and can NEVER afford to buy one.. if it is still available i can send you some details and you can send it from santa claus she will be over the moon. |

I gave my old 4900Z to my daughter, who still uses it for all her photos. She likes the styling as well as the ease of use! |

I would love to have a camera like that to give my niece for christmas. She's 12 years old and she loves taking pictures. Her parent's can't afford to buy her a camera. I let her use mine when she's around and she spends hours making photos with it...

I just bought a new Fuji, so I don't need the camera, but if anyone has an XD card they'd like to get rid of, I'd be happy to pay for it!
