1. it depends on the photo. I'd like to say I'd give myself somewhere between a 6 and a 9, but, well, that brings me to...
2. yes, unfortunately. sometimes the pressure is too great.
3. Depends what you mean. I almost always take at least 100 shots everytime i go out shooting. sometimes i can just happen to catch what i want with one picture if it's passing moment. If it's a study I usually take about 10 to 20.
4. only when it's dark...and there's no other option.
5. natural, 100%. I even refuse to edit out telephone poles, wires, etc. I appreciate good studio work but it really isn't my thing.
6. Natural, of course. Studio feels like work.
7. Shadow is a curious enigma. |

1. Usually in the 6's somewhere - though I pretty much always end up agreeing with the score I end up with.
2. Yes, occasionally. I use the challenges as an assignment to help myself learn. I will avoid entering anything I know will score below 5 though.
3. Sometimes (though rarely) it's the first one, sometimes it takes over 100.
4. No, not at all. Blech.
5. I like both for different reasons. Studio work gives me so much control. Outdoor work is usually very relaxing and gives the chance for that once in a lifetime shot.
6. Depends on the weather!
7. shad·ow n. An imperfect imitation or copy. :p

1. I usually rate my photos around a 7 before entering.
2. Rarely do I enter a photo just cause its the last minute.
3. Usually around 30-40.
4. I hardly ever use the flash.
5. Both.
6. Natural.

1. Haven't a clue, other then 'You think that's air ...', which i knew was a 7.something
2. Never
3. upwards of 50 - depending how trixky the set-up/capture is.
4. Very nearly never: probably would more often if I had more than the on-camera evil thing
5. Prefer 'natural' shots - though the conrol-ability of studio shots leads in general to higher scores
6. Natrual - always, though the site doesn't necessarily.
7. The absence of light

1. I'm usually a good predictor of my scores. I don't always submit perceived winners.
2. I'll submit something even if it stinks. Sometimes I don't want to be left out of a challenge and just want to track something.
3. I'll take anywhere between 2 and 300 shots (necessary on my splash entries)
4. Flash is ok. I'd rather not, but there's nothing wrong with flash (Example).
5. I like both studio and natural shots.
6. I'm better at studio shots because I spent most of my new hobby of photography locked up inside my house because of Winter. I look forward to getting out there.
7. Comic Book character.

1. I don't. I compare afterwards by checking how I scored the 10 better and worse around me myself.
2. Sometimes, usually not.
3. Sometimes 1, regularly 40, ocassionaly 300 to 1000.
4. Only fill flash, I prefer natural lighting
5. Prefer natural shots, but scored better with studio like shots.
6. Natural

1. I would like to believe an entry a 6 or better before submitting.
2. If par is 5, I probably would not submit the entry.
3. Studio type shots: 30-50, On natural (outdoor) shots: 5-10
4. I rarely use a flash (for challenge entrys).
5. I lean towards the studio shot as my preference (more control).
6. Probably do more studio type shots.
7. What is a shadow? :) (SHADOWS might make a challenge)

1. Never do
2. Not nowadays. It has happened.
3. 30-300
4. Never use built-in flash for Challenges shots.
5. Both, it´s the result that counts.
6. Studio

1 - I don't rate my own photos because I'm biased. I submit photos to see how they are perceived by others.
2 - Not normally. I don't submit for the simple sake of submitting. If I feel that my idea is no good or the image is no good, I spare the voters the agony of having to look at it.
3 - There is no average. I have done as few as one and as many as 250 or so. This all depends on the image and how difficult it is to make the image the way I want it.
4 - I never use the flash.
5 - I don't have a preference. I like both and I use whichever method I feel will produce the best shot for whatever my objective is.
6 - As far as my overall shooting goes, I don't do one more than the other.
7 - Dunno who Shadow is, but he's seeking the truth...

1. I usually rate my photos lower then the scores it ends up with. I am pretty hard on myself. I try to look at all the faults and see if I can see what the voters are going to see.
2. I have submitted photos that were bad, like the matrix shot, but that was a last minute submission. I wasn't in the right frame of mind then. lol Usually I try to get the right shot before submitting. I don't like to miss a challenge.
3. I would say I take between 30 and 100 shots throughout the week for one challenge before I find the ONE I like.
4. I don't usually use a flash, but I have used it for snapshots and sometimes in studio shots to get a different effect. Like in these picture. ;-)Negative tulip Digital art "Flower 4"
5. I guess you can say I like studio shot and natural shots both about the same. I do go through fazes where I take more of one then the other.
6. I do more studio shots.
7. Shadow is a copy cat.

Aaaagggh - gotta be honest.....
1. the very best that I've got for the subject I've chosen; they never score as I hope though; you're a hard crowd to please
2. I don't like to miss a challenge either; lately the photos which did not/are not doing well, I submitted because I want to see how far I can push the boundaries here; I've realized that I'm trying to take photos to please you all
3. once I've chosen my subject, 40 - 100 or more; I struggle alot with lighting and exposure
4. not really; I usually don't like the effect for artistic work
5. natural shots; studio shots are difficult for me to achieve well
6. natural shots (nature); I compose to eliminate power lines, or anything else that is man-made
7. a mystery

1. I don't formally rate my photos, but I do say to myself "I'd give that an 8 or 9" or something similar.
2. I almost don't, but then I do. If it is just a photo I don't like, I probably won't submit, but if it shows my personality or fills out my portfolio, I might.
3. 30-100
4. I sometimes use a fill flash, but I generally don't like the feel of flash pictures, so I don't use flash very much. If I had a fancy studio with flash umbrellas and even flash lighting, I might.
5. Both. Whichever seems appropriate for my idea of the challenge, though I have had fun with studio shots lately. It's new to me.
6. I do more natural shots, but many of my challenges have been studio.
7. Shadow is that which lies beneath and behind. Shadow is that which transfixes and engages, continually demanding more as the sun retreats. Shadow is life and life in waning. Shadow is. |
