Do they want money? What are the details of the e-mail?

the e-amil was an invitation to the winners ceremony.

but it has peaked mmy interest into the contest, seems like they only want an entry fee...

This one came up earlier in the year. A scam I believe. I received one as well - didn't even bother reading it - just deleted it. Check the old forums - I think about April or May.

Black and White Spider awards are announced tomorrow. I entered last year and this, not a scam. A couple of friends whos are members here scored in the Color awards, put on by the same people. My multiple entries are in silhouette and nature, but I screwed up the pp on my strongest entry, submitted the wrong version. A bunch of my horse shooter friends also entered.

Hmmm, I'm replying to myself:
1st place: Nature professional

Nominee in Nature pro

Nominee in Abstract pro and Nature pro (1)

BW version of my Beatles DPC entry, "Ticket To Ride".
nominee for silhouette pro:

They didn't like this one, oh well:

Not bad for $95 in entry fees!

How much money did you win?

Hi, Rex, the prize was not directly monetary--but valuable considering how wide of a distribution the calendar and source book gets. Much better than sending out a bunch of my own postcards to some slice of creative/art directors out there across the world. As a fan of black and white photography, I'm pretty stoked about this sort of recognition, means I'm on the right track--and the nature category is so incredibly broad, for an animal shot to do this well is also meaningful. Unlike a local gallery or exhibition, the submissions were in the thousands rather than hundreds, and the quality of the judges world-class.

Their upcoming "Color Awards" have more monetary prizes. Same format, pro and amateur.

Thanks, but it pales next to photographer of the year! So cool, and in so many categories.
