On behalf of the The Hoovers, subteam of Team Suck, I'm soliciting nominations from the general public for Out-of-the-Box challenge submissions (OOBIE) and great commentors (Yappie) for this week's awards. The challenges being considered in this round are Long Exposure II, Neon, Reflections without Mirrors, and Self-Portrait V. Note that comments are not limited to those received during a challenge.
Anyone can offer up a nomination. This is Team Suck's way of rewarding those who contribute to the site in creative ways - either by taking a risk with a somewhat unconventional picture, or by providing thoughtful/useful/even humorous comments.
Nominate away! Team Hoover has the honor of picking this week's winners (and sinners, perhaps) by virtue of winning last week's Team Suck subteam challenge. (Woo hoo!) |

Two perfect examples of OutOftheBox ways of fulfilling a challenge come from the Reflections Without Mirrors III challenge. These were not "shoehorns" or afterthoughts. In both cases, the challenge was reinterpreted in a creative way. The mirroring was done live, instead of through an actual reflection.

This was my favorite of the Reflections challenge. It is so perfectly composed that I had a lot of trouble understanding how the reflection was done. When I finally "got it" I was stunned. It's a great photo, and a great example of Out-of-the-Box thinking. |

I think this image by pixeldust from the Long Exposure challenge is OOBIE-worthy. It is an excellent image, has a clear message, was cleverly thought out and executed, and was seriously under-rated.

How many can we nominate? There are so many challenges to cover this week. Here's one for Self Portrait.
I like this a lot. I think the reflection of the artist on his own work is nicely revealing. The added noise gives it the feel of a watercolor painting. It got a '5.3' but I think it deserved much better. |

I know I am not part of Team Suck but would like to nominate a comment that had me and my wife laughing pretty hard. I am not sure if its what you guys are looking for but maybe...
quoted from PapaBob "I was loking at all thes pictures thinking why is everyone so mad, then this one came up and cracked me up!!! You are mad too but in special way! Thanks, good luck in the challenge and I hope you find what you are lookin fur!"

I nominate marksimms for a YAPPIE sucker, because he always leaves a comment when he gives a low rating. Believe me, they're no fun to receive, but I appreciate having an explanation for the low score, and I think we should encourage everyone to do that. |

One more Reflections nomination for the OOBIE:
I gave this image a '10', but was not surprised that the general population didn't agree with me -- they really don't like shots that aren't crystal clear. But this is truly out-of-the-box!!!
Who but our venerable posthumous would have thought of such a title to go with it. Had me fooled. I know he is divine, but didn't realize he had joined the ranks of the other deities, whose images are constantly appearing on everything from bed sheets to cheese sandwiches. |

It's exactly what we're looking for, and nominations are open to everyone. Thanks, Tim!

Okay, then, here's one of mine.
Personally, I consider it a bit out of the box. I knew it wouldn't do great, but I really like it. |
