Well, I've voted on this entire challenge. Not many good shots in this challenge, and three of those were Bokehs that got lost! :D

Owe guys! I have always given strait up props for good images amongst a challenge. After the Game!
This time I just have to LOL>ROFLMAO. These entries suck. I have never seen a challenge produce more terrible photos. Thank god there is only 82 of em. LOL.
I didn't enter "promise", so no biases. And not everybodys sucked, I'm predicting the winning ribbon @ 4.8324. LOL. "kidding about that avg., but I seriously bet it is low"
So whats everybody else think?

I also feel there where allot of really lame photos in this change. I voted accordingly and try to leave as many comments as I could to explain what I did not like.
With that said, does the DPC community want honest feedback or false encouragement? What is the point of having an online challenge if you don’t want people’s honest opinions?
I fined it pretty un believable that good photographers are leaving this sight because people are being honest when they don’t like a photo. That is how a challenge works.
In my opinions giving a crappy photo a good score is an insult to anyone who enters a well thought out photo. Is this a contest site or site or dp group hug?

wikipedia summarizes artistic license like this...
In summary, artistic license is:
Entirely at the artist's discretion
Intended to be tolerated by the viewer (cf. "willing suspension of disbelief") Neither "good" nor "bad"
Useful for filling in gaps, whether they be factual, compositional, historical or otherwise Used consciously or unconsciously, intentionally or unintentionally or in tandem
Judging by many of the comments in this thread, there's quite a few people who don't believe in artistic license. It's a shame to limit yourselves like that.
This is art, not brain surgery. |
If the challenge description does not mean anything than every challenge would be a free study. I will continue deducting points for photos I feel totally don’t meet a challenge. In my opinion to do otherwise is unfair to those that put the creativity and time into capturing images that meet a challenge.

As someone said somewhere else: in a challenge, be as much artistic as possible, but within the parameters established in the challenge description. If the latter is not fulfilled, the image is out of order, and I vote low.
On the other hand, if if image meets the challent and it sucks, it also gets a low score accordingly. It's that simple.
Now, for other considerations on voting styles and related topics, check out this other thread: Voting Observations |

I'm sorry, and I sincerely regress! I was trying to make a little fun, but I forgot how "serious" everybody gets.
There was some very fine entries <---all five of em! LMAO!
Edit; Can we guess why so many good photographers have left the site ?
Probably because they stopped having fun!

Dude you misunderstood, it's the complaining both this thread many other threads lately. This challenge was tough and it appears some folks didn’t get the spirit of the challenge description. Also known as "DNMC" so be it, I've shoe horned several challenges with pretty good shots and got nailed. And when I was fairly new to the site, I had shots that I personally thought were great (& got nailed) but in time you get the hang of this site......hmmmmmm guest I need another shot of CC, lost my train of thought...lol...Let me know if this makes any sense...lol

I rarely post stats anymore because it always jinxes me...but what the heck, especially since some people have made it blatantly apparent that all the pictures in the challenge suck anyway (insert rolling eyes here, if you would like).
I commented on every entry in this challenge and tried to make myself, at the very least, somewhat cognizant of the photographer's intent, even if the finished product was less than spectacular to my eyes. I try to use the full range of the voting scale, and in this challenge, I scored images ranging from 2 to 7. This was a tough challenge for which to shoot, so I was impressed that we had 82 entries to begin with. I think the fewer number of entries made it even tougher to rate them. I applaud all your efforts and will be anxious to see what happens at rollover time. :) |

My score sucks but I knew it would. Weird thing is that it looks way brighter than it did when I was working on it, yet I did everything the way I usually do. At least I'm pretty sure I did, but I was rushing a bit, so I probably screwed up. Ah well, no biggie :) |
