"Isn't Common enough" problem, is a problem never the less. Neither were multiple Usernames and look how big of a problem it turned out to be by rewarding the perp and robbing those who would have been ribbon winners at the time ribbons were awarded. That situation robbed potential ribbon winners of earned glory for a number of challenges. This issue becomes a problem for those who are affected by this practice and do not kid yourself, it is being done. By whom, I have no idea, but it certanly is happening as it is simple enough for those jerks who wish to do it. Unfortunately the door has been left open for those who wish to use it. I'm saying close the door shut.

Your problem is comparing your thumb to Leroy's. Although I don't know what he has in this challenge, he is known to photograph good looking models and has done nudes. Those shots garner plenty of extra views just from the boobie hunters.

Leroy has about 80 more views even though my score is over a point higher than his. Does that make sense if you are worried about thumbnail voting?

How? As noted, merely hiding the thumbnails or requiring a vote won't do it.

I reckon you're right, but your quoting attributions are wrong ;) (and are now fixed).

Neither will getting rid of Mr. multiple user for a year. Or "maybe" that will work! Glad someone decided to try that as a solution. ;-)

Um... ghost accounts are illegal but cherry picking isn't. The rules only state that you must vote on 20% for your votes to count. There's nothing in the rules about WHICH 20% you have to vote on, and as long as the votes are placed in good faith I don't see it as a big deal. Different people won't pick the same images to vote on, so it tends to even out somewhat anyway.

Calling it a night now. I'll cover the remaining 25% tomorrow.

Some great photos in this challenge.

Won't be a PB but its not a bad score.

Some nice comments too though one seems to think my horizon isn't straight (it looks fine to me and no one else has mentioned it). Usually I have tons of comments about that issue if there's a problem so I think I'll ignore that particular point.

pineapple was my 100th voter. He was supposed to give me an 8 to bring my score back up to 5.0000, but he didn't. However, he was kind enough to keave a comment, so that makes up for it.

Thanks!!!

You can't please everyone.

(So try to please the ones with higher voting averages) ;-)

Hey! As stated previously, I am commenting on EVERY entry in this challenge. I am now up to about 100! And I am really taking my time with each one. You know, I think I am learning a lot about what makes a good photograph by doing this, so this is actually self-serving. :)
10/02/2006 10:18:08 PM · #319
OK, OK... I get it! 5 out of 6 comments say the same thing. Now I know why my score is so crappy. Only problem is, it's not true. I swear I didn't do it! LOL. (Note to self... don't use that setting on the camera for challenges anymore).

At least you know what the offending setting is... that's got to count for something ;-)

Both comments say it's "nice" but what they're really saying is "sweet jeebers, this is boring as !@#$" :P

I know! I've used it before and it never affected the image that way. I was looking in the manual and it does say it effects different subjects differently. I just figured I'd save a couple editing steps with it. I think a lot of the problem had to do with the ISO more so than the setting I used though. I think more experiments are in order. Just not for challenges. I did have one person that really liked it though.

I have to check to see what my record number of comments in a challenge is...

EDIT: seems to be 32 comments during voting for me. I hope I break that! only 16 more to go and I have almost a full week left.
