Wow, lots of pain here! I'm seeing the same drop today as many of you so hang in there. I dropped from 6.4 to 5.9xx during morning church service!

So...

If everybody recognizes you, and consistently gives you high scores for image appeal, then that's certainly something to be happy about.

the question is: do they really give me the so called (haha, not sure about that) high scores because of the "image appeal" or because they know me? I think it's the 2nd option.

I'd give her a ten just for being sexy :-)

Well my self portraits are consistently among my lowest-scoring photos, so I think it's simple appeal. ;-)

If nothing else, you've found a formula for consistancy among the voters... LOL

So in other words your standard score for the female photographers? :P

If I voted a 1/2 on something I would leave a comment which you should already be able to divine from my vote - it is a complete piece of shit, go take up knitting. You still wouldn't agree, just if you were actively watching your score at the time you'd be able to send me hatemail in response.

Yes, cause you're not a troll. However, when you have dozens of ribbon winners and top tens with 1's. For fotos that are NOT obvious POS. Something is wrong.

Okay, maybe we should just reveal "who votes 1's" on any top 10 images. I think that would be enlightening.

Problem, dude?
i am soooooooooooo tired of everyone leaving coments that say my shots are out of focus

I've noticed that many who do are new members. And I understand why. One of my entries is a macro with a shallow depth of field. It's in quite nice focus. However much of the shot blurs out and softens. Too a novice fotographer like I was 4 yrs ago. I would think it was out of focus.

When I first joined DPC I did not understand DOF.

I think a lot of these comments come from novices. So, if I have an entry that is in focus but has a very shallow DOF. I send a little note to correct their understanding.

It's really annoying when you can actually see reflections in an eye and someone comments "out of focus". Hence, I've realized that most of these commentors are novices.

I have finally looked at some of the free studies. Bad comments this morning really made me click off the computer and say "Why do I abuse myself so?" Anyway, after voting on 4% so far I can see that I deserve the comments I receive, as well as a low score. My image lacks in so many ways. So I have accepted, and now I can vote with clear conscience. Just another flop, I guess.

On the other hand, if you're getting these comments consistently it could mean that there really is a problem. Shallow depth of field is fine, but most voters prefer to have SOMETHING in sharp focus.

I torture ants by dropping them into ant lion mounds. I love watching those ant lions coming up and grabbing those ants. Of course, it is kind of cool watching the ant struggling in this hole of sand since it can't get any kind of foothold, and the sand under its feet just keeps dropping toward the center of the hole. Not much to do around here.

How do you find an ant lion nest?

I'd love to see one...

:)

Although, not sure if I'd drop ants in....but ticks...yeah...that I'd be game for.

More than anything it would require them to do SOMETHING,
other than click the vote number. I'd extend the requirement only to 1 votes. To vote a one means the image must be absolutely repugnant. I haven't seen one that bad on DPC.
Also make it a 10 word minimum comment. But....... I certainly like things the way they are. ;)

The CIA should add DPC as a interrogation technique. I watched my 7.5 drop to 6.0. Now that's torture.
