I have visited everyones profiles Ursula's Many times as she seems to show up on the front page often.

I am from Watertown Wisconsin USA, It is half way between Milwaukee and Madison.

I just upgraded to the D200 about 6 weeks ago so I am still learning how to operate it. My biggest problem is remembering to change ISO settings back down to 100 when I shoot in sunlight after shooting indoors at 400 or higher.

What about you guys, where are you all from? what is your photography specialty?

I would say my best work has been shooting birds/animals but I have taken some nice landscapes and sky shots. I am starting to master the art of shooting with my light tent also but I still have a little work to do there.

The D200 goes down to ISO 100? Have you tried comparing ISO 100 and ISO 200? It's been one of my "beefs" with the D70, that the lowest ISO is 200.

How is noise at 400 or higher? I've read that the D200 is noisy at higher ISOs?

As far as "getting to know me", I guess I'm sort of known around DPC - and now I've got an interview too (which sames me the work of introducing myself here, he, he).

when shooting outdoors on bright sunny day the ISO 100 makes a little difference but not a biggy. Colors a little more vivid and lines are little sharper. Not much noise at ISO 200. I have a few shots in my portfolio in the concert folder that I shot at 800 to 1000 with out flash. I didn't do much post processing on them. So you will be able to see the noise. There is a good deal. If I had a really fast lens that would probably not be as big of a problem. I am saving for one.

I got my D200 at the end of May. It's my 1st DSLR. I was a Minolta fan in the past, but didn't like where Minolta was going (Sony). When I read about the D200, I decided that's what I want.

Way, way back in High School I was the only photographer for the yearbook for 2 years straight, and then dropped out of photography when computers kicked in. (I realized it was just as expensive as a hobby.)

For years I was watching and waiting when the D50 came out, and the Canon Rebels, but I wanted to get a higher level camera. I set up a small studio in my basement to start to practice and I have been hired a few times to photograph events. (And a few volunteers fundraisers too.)

I joined dpc to get better at photography and find a group of people that I can learn from. I have made a few friends through DPC and hope to contuinue to.

As for professional goals, I would like to start having people come over to my studio for portraits, and do some commercial photography. A part of me wants to do High Fashion too.

I spent all the money I could afford this year, but next year I will be getting monolights. I still haven't decidied on which ones, but I want professional quality and really high end name brands.

I think that the WPL will give me an opportunity and a reason to enter more challenges and make sure I only submit quality and legal entries. Let's not get any DQs team. Make sure of it.

I admit, I've been living in a cave, under a rock and just now noticed this thread. Um, is it too late to join? Most likely, eh? Not sure what that entails, but please let me know.
Thanks.

Well I guess its my turn. I've been shooting for about 15 yrs. I was a Navy combat photographer and have been doing freelance stuff ever since. I usually shoot about 10 weddings a year but my best work is sports and action, especially skiing photos. Its my goal to quit my day job and just shoot full time, unfortunately Vermont isn't the best place to do this. I've had my D200 for about 7 months and love it. I had the D70 for a year before that but the D200 answered all of my requests for update to the D70. As for my Wife, none of this digital gear would have been possible if not for her. She is always very supportive of my photography.

Don't know. But you could use the forum search - it's now "classic" and "advanced".

Well, I am sorry for interrupting the team meetings...thought after reading this thread (and having a D70-so why I was interested) I would ask a quick and easy question, since somone else in the thread asked and never got an answer.
Go back to your little meeting. I'll just start Team Stupid %^&*

Wow, you're angry. I took your original post as a bit of a tease, so I responded in kind. Sorry if I offended. From your wording I didn't realize you were interested in participating.

I really don't know if there is a thread explaining the WPLs, but there's a lot of info floating around. I'll try to find the link to WPL3 and insert it here.

As for a Team Stupid, I don't know, you're too good for that. But there are a bunch of other teams out there looking for participants - I'm sure you can find a spot.

Edit: added link

My iBook died last night! I CAN'T BELIVE IT! I think the logic board went, for the second time on this mac (same freezing and screen test as the last time so I figue it the same fault!)

It's still under warrenty (utill June 2007) so I'm returning it today after work. That noramlly takes two week to go away and come back, unless the replace it but we'll see.

So I'm out of any challenge or WPL until then.

I only have this crappy work laptop that I can't install and editting software on.

I'm still on the email and on the forums and in the Free Study XIII challenge (being hammered!).

Rock on!
