Maybe a bit heavy-handed?

Didn't take much time but here's a shot. |

I went more for a "change in location" look. Cropped right size and extended canvas size on left, levels, burned in spotlight effect, minor hue/sat and brightness/contrast adjustments to bring out tattoos. This was fun! Thanks for posting. |

My shot at it ...
2 layers. blurred the background layer. Erased all the wall on second layer. Square crop. USM player layer and color adjustments. Burned color out behind head.

I've not done an edit but this would be what I'd go for, maybe lighten up on the spotlight effect a little but am definately thinking smoky jazz club kind of feel? am sure you will all agree that the tight crop works well here (nice one Laurie)

This is by far my favorite of the edits. I also liked the sort of grungy cyan of tryn's third version, but I thought it was too dark.

wow, just now got to take a look at them all and am highly impressed! I wanted to get some ideas from you all so I can print a large one for him and my mother-in-law. Every single one of them are fantastic and I thank you all for participating.
For anyone else that wants to try, please feel free. |

Cross processed using Alien Skins Exposure
Blurred second layer with Lens blur in CS2 then masked subject.
Used levels on second layer to brighten background, as the subject was getting lost.

All these are great, folks! I really liked the look of the red bricks by BradP so I tried to recreate that for myself. Here's what I came up with. |
