Before I submit to a Basic Editing challenge, I'm editing my photo in Photoshop Elements. Is it acceptable to use the following techniques:
1) Increase the saturation using the "Master" setting (so that the whole photo is increased, not just one color)?
2) Use the "Darken Highlights" under the "Shadows/Highlights" menu item?
These two features do seem to affect the whole photo and not just a portion, which would seem acceptable.

You will find that many if not most use selective saturation on individual colors. As long as you do not select a section or specific color with some kind of a tool you can adjust to you hearts desire. Same with shadow and highlights, adjust all you want. When you get to understand PS CS2 or other programs there is really not much difference between basic and advanced. Thats where the current rules are confusing to many.

I did not realize that this was legal in Basic Editing. But when I think about it, changing a color still affects the whole photo, since I'm not physically selecting a certain area. Cool.
Thank you. |

Hi SecondCurtain,
I see you are relatively new to the site...good luck in your first challenge!
Did you see the earlier thread about resizing your photo for a challenge? That also tends to be a frequently asked question.
Welcome to DPC!
