I was just browsing when I came across this shot:
 by my favourite photographer  jjbeguin
now I must admit I am a bit embarrassed as I recently entered this shot:
I had no idea...but am sure that I have seen this shot before, and must have been subconsciously influenced...my shot is not as good, but that isn't my point..the similarities are there...
I just want to come clean.
If something like this has happened to you post the shots. |

Poeple often use themes and ideas gleaned from other sources. I recently tried a liquid splash shot for color on color inspired by the ones seen here on DPC.
I tried to add a little twist to it by having another element in addtion to the splash, but the idea was not mine alone.
One of my higher scores too.

no reason to be embarrassed
i never saw jj s wheat before and posted this a while ago
just regard it as good company
to be unique in a choice of topic is almost an illusion i think

Hmmm... I think that's true. I should say sometimes photos obviously look the same... but most... they are just ideas for others to bring out in better ways :)

i think i had that experience
im pretty sure somehow xion's 'post swing' made me click the shutter at this scene
they both tell about childhood and both have shadows as a visual plus
for the record i really think xions image has far more quality o

bucket, when I saw your picture in the zen challenge, I immediately thought of jjbeguin's shot, but here is my comment:
the wheat gives in,
becomes.
jjbeguin's wheat does NOT give in. It is amazingly static. Yours is alive in a zen sort of way. I love both shots.

Bucket, I loved your shot in zen and while never having seen jjbeguin's shot until now I also love that one too. The thing is both are VERY different. Your's actually looks like a photograph where jjbeguin's looks like something created from a scratchboard. I think both are rather impressive, IMO.

I'll (24th or whatever number we're up to) everyone else. I live near Washington, DC, but I have no qualms about entering as many shots as I like of memorials that have been photographed thousands or millions of times. :)
Yours was inadvertent, but it's also fine to do it deliberately.
I took what I learned from Hughletheren's excellent tutorial about wine glass refraction shots
and applied it in the B&W in Color Challenge:
I missed a couple of things, so I plan to do it again for a future challenge while cleaning those up. |
