... Exhibition at the Nakagawa River Water Park here in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. I was expecting a bigger exhibit, but there were some interesting creatures there anyway.

Horned Toad or Frog

Poison Dart Frog

Red Piranha

One reason I went is that they're holding a photo competition. It seems that digital cameras images won't be accepted for the competition, so i took my film camera too.
The river and tropical fish exhibits were brighter (and bigger).

Cool stuffs, David! I'd love to see that exhibit. The horned toad is really cool.

Adding some pictures I took today, thought they're not from the Amazon. They were part of the exhibit of Okinawan marine life at one of the department stores.

Large and colourful lobster

Large eel

If you have time, Pug-H, visit Takashi Amano's Aqua Design Amano HQ in Niigata. Takashi Amano is the world's best aquatic garden designer. Aquatic gardens are my other passion, apart from photography - and one of the reasons I got into photography was aquatic gardens. You can see some of Amano's work here.

I hope the link works.

wow. nice link. Haven't seen any of his tanks for a few years. I sold my tanks. I don't have the commitment to do something like that, but always admire someone that does.

I'd never heard of that place, but it looks interesting. And I never knew there was a such a hobby as planted tanking...
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to travel around much in Japan this time.

Good closeups. Wondering how close you were to the subjects? Researching for a good close-up aquarium/fish tank lens.
