Who uses smugmug for their website? I have never used them, but I am trying to make a website and I have seen that many of you use them. I would like to use my own name as the domain as well as to use it primarily as my website. Any suggestions. Anyone dislike this function? |

I use my own domain name on my smugmug site. It's not hard to do. Just purchase your domain name and then follow the instructions from the control panel (if I remember correctly, it seems like it walked me through every step of the way).
My website: //www.dterryphotography.com
Feel free to use my coupon ( Yi9EsaJKWupHM ) to save you $5 and give me a $10 credit. It's a win-win situation. |

Thank you buzz I have been spending a lot of time on it to get it right. It is still a work in progress.
Just like my house. Wife got new countertops today. What lens could I have bought?

I have barely done any kind of customization...so I thought I'd use some of the links provided here to do a few things. Now, I consider myself an intelligent person...I have a great education and possess more than one college degree. That said, I feel like a complete RETARD trying to decipher even the most basic of tutorials offered up on the dgrin site to "help" noobs customize their pages. I know I'm not learning impaired, but I sure feel like it. I will have to just leave it at what it is because I just don't understand what any of that coding crap is all about. It will be worth more to me to pay someone to actually build my own website for me than to even try to go one step further than I already have with smugmug. I'll hang on to my smugmug site for the storage alone, and ease of sharing with family members. Yikes.

Yes it is hard to understand the whole coding, took me hours/days lol weeks to do mine. Sometime I wanted to just stop but I kept at it lots of people helped me out. But it was very hard.

Ok I tried pming this to tkare so I will post it here in case anyone else would like it.
Obviously if you do this you want to change the links to be your on smumgug. Put this in your header section.
Get there by clicking "Control Panel" when you are logged in. Then click "Customize" then a little over halfway down you will see the header section. Paste it there.

so while we're talking about smugmug.. i have to shamelessly post this:
If you do sign up (and absolutely should), please use me as a referral!
code #: PH8bpJ0qeTxCk
Overall, I've been really happy with the service, with quick uploads, etc. If you're considering a photo service, i'd go with this one based on price, ease of use, and unlimited # of photos. |

originals. I don't resize for smugmug. You can choose to let your clients see thumbs, medium, large or original... i don't let them see original so they can't copy it.

You know I thought you found another website and was staying away from Smugmug.
On another note I have learnbed enough I think maybe I could offer to pimp someone's site.
