LOL!

I may stick a few in my portfolio later. I need a LOT of practice shooting these guys. I did find one juvenille who couldn't get away from me as easily but the poor thing looked absolutely petrified so I kept my distance.

Sheesh...I did't know we was missing that much in the view finder.... Got some stuff on the edges that I know was not there when I composed.

I can never remember which end of the image the extra part is at though. So even though I'm aware of the viewfinder ~95% coverage I still get extra bits I didn't expect.

Just take a picture of a crayon. With no processing to do it will take a whole five minutes to do the job. LOL!!

So what's the ruling on auto-rotation set in camera?

If a program doesn't read the exif flag then the image will appear lying down.

PS obviously reads this flag and shows the original in portrait mode so no rotation is needed in PP.

What Judi said...

Don't sweat the small change as this one is going to be snap-shot heaven... :)

Colette, do you have Zoombrowser or Canon DPP installed? DPP resizes nicely so when you do the Convert and Save (as they call it), it will be in proper orientation. You could do a save as... in Zoombrowser as well.

Apparently somebody didn't read the rules! No converting in DPP for this challenge. I take it you're not going to put one of your snap shots in this one, huh Andy?

Well I'm in. No. 320 with a little over an hour to go.

Maybe I'm dense or just plain am missing something. On the rotating issue, don't you just turn the camera on its side to take a portrait photo?

When you copy that file to the computer, the photo is laying on its side.

My camera uploads my photos the way I take them-so when copying to the computer they are in the same direction that I take them. So, let me get this straight...the ONLY photos entered in this challenge can be LANDSCAPE??? That makes no sense whatsoever....
So, if I take a photo in portrait that means that I can't use it for this challenge?? I don't have to rotate any of my shots. What gives??

I'm outside without my camera, and the challenge is closing in about 1 hour and 10 minutes - This is one challenge I've always wanted, I'm so depressed... sobs

Convert and save is just the menu item. You choose it whether your converting a RAW file or resizing a jpeg.

Just submitted mine. Feeling lazy to check the thread. was any thing concluded on the portrait mode shooting?
07/03/2006 12:13:44 AM · #194
Mine was last minute for sure. I had a choice of three and I picked the wrong one by a longshot. The other images are definately outshining mine, which needed saturation. ARRRR. It's going to brown I just know it. First score a 5.0. :(
07/03/2006 12:21:17 AM · #195
Mine was a 5 too. I hope people remember to vote on what it is, not what we're used to seeing.
07/03/2006 12:25:32 AM · #196
finished shooting at 11.45
because there was no editing had it up in plenty of time
but should have sat this one out first 2 scores were 4s :(

Glad that's all cleared up, could have been confusing to some of us who are not all that familiar with DPP, like me. :)
