Yeah, ask him what kind of brain growth hormones he has been taking since jan 1st this year, I mean, the guy started out with nothing but 4.xxxx scores about a year ago and suddenly he has raked in 8 ribbons this year? Or is he simply bribing D&L with giant 30 square foot oreo cookies and coolest milk this planet has ever seen? What gives? And when is he coming to Iceland for a visit, you know you can´t ever be a true ribbon hog till you have tasted our water :)

Best asked this way

Ask: Are you color blind? LOL!!!

Ask: Did your parents live in Haight-Ashbury San Francisco during the late 60s early 70s?

Ask: When a kid did your parents give to the big box with 48 different crayons in it?

Ask: Is it true, while under the care of Califonia mental health authorities, that they discovered certain colors trigger homicidal episodes? Is it yellow or orange? For your own safety and the safety of others weren't you banned from image post processing?

Ask: Do you still wear rose colored glasses on photo shoots?

These questions, worthy of pulitzer prize investgative reporting, will shed much light on Rikki's photographic style and imagery. Quite frankly, the answers could relieve a lot of shared anxieties concerning Rikki.

Inquiring DPCers demand to know the true story behind the man, the myth and his pictures.

And does Rikki have Tom Cruise stand in for him at public events and gallery openings?

How does it feel to have your name on the homepage each week other than sandwiched between "welcome back, and (log out)"?

Based on the above, does drug testing need to be a part of DPC? What are your thoughts?

I´m thinking NO based on the quote from Rikki in this thread :P

I did find it interesting that Mr. Caveman sounded like Arnold or more like a bodybuilder rather than a photographer. It's not that I expected a high pitched voice from Larus but from looking at his self portraits, I didn't expect his deep voice.

What does Rikki use to clean his couch?
06/29/2006 10:33:19 AM · #18
Would he be willing to sell small portions of his brain in hopes we could acquire a small amount of his vast knowledge and creativity? It̢۪s the Algernon principle.

If drug test results becomes necessary as a criteria for submitting to DPC, Rikki's imagery would certainly be identified as one of the reasons.

That should be investigated in your questioning. Some of Joey Lawrence's work might also trigger that need.

The problem with photo artists is they are creative thinkers. As we all know, creative thinkers can never be trusted and should be repressed. They come up with submission ideas that dwarf us lesser thinkers and relegate our images to the stagnant backwaters of photo imagery. That is not fair. How will the rest of us ever win a ribbon?

And don't let kiwiness and all those Icelandic and Northern European photographers think they are not the culprits. They are. So is Librodo with his catchy down home view of the human condition on planet Earth. And to think we allow this to suppress our backyard flower pictures. It is outragious.

These are the kind of issues that a hard hitting podcast should address.

Great questions everyone. I'll try to work as many in as I can. LOL
06/29/2006 11:00:00 AM · #24
There was a point at which your entries fell into line with the average to above average shots here on DPC. Then it changed all of a sudden and you started winning ribbons.

What spurred the change (advice from other DPC photogs, new editing techniques, tutorials, etc.) and do you recall when your work began to take on "ribbon" quality.

When shooting, what is the single most important thing you keep reminding yourself?

Why orange? ;-)
